It is better if you look again into the carburators, it may just need blowing of the jets by compressed air and the idling vent.
You will have thn to reset the air-mixture screw.

Release the clips on the float bowls and check for dirt in the bowls. With the correct screwdrivers and knowledge of where they are, you can pull the jets and clean them, especially the idle jets which have the smallest orifice. Also check the float level. If still no luck - Start with a compression test. Then do (or have done for you) valve adjustment, cam chain adjustment, and point gap/ignition timing.

Hi, Diesel and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle circuit and transfer ports clogged.
2. Air fuel mixture adjustment too lean.
3. Pilot jet clogged.
4. Faulty accelerator pump.
5. Float level too low.
6. Float bowl contaminated old fuel, water, dirt, rust, etc.
7. Float bowl vent or overflow tube clogged.
8. Fuel flow to carburetor restricted.
9. Intake manifold leak.
10. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
11. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
12. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.
13. Multi carburetors not in sync

My rc51 1000 starts fine, idles fine, but occasionally when switching gears it will stall, when i pull back on throttle between gears, thats when it stalls, but every time it starts right back up on the...

The problem is most likely clogged idle jets. The solution would be to mix some additive, like B12 or Sea Foam, with your gasoline and go for a ride. You want to make sure you ride enough to get the gas into your carburetors. While riding, the additive will clean your carbs, but when you park the bike with the engine off is when it will start soaking into your idle jets. Depending on how clogged they are, it may take a while. The alternative is to remove the carbs, and clean the idle jets. I would try a couple of ounces of cleaner per gallon of gas and then ride it around and see how it works. It has worked for me 3 out of 4 times. Good luck!

My honda crx is starting over but won't idol properly and will stay on for a few seconds before dying. i checked to make sure gas is getting to the engine and it is.

I have same car 1989 honda crx, what worked for car was I took the Idle Air Control Valve ( IACV ) off and cleaned it with carb cleaner. What you will need is a 12mm socket and only has two screws, and pliers to take off two small hoses attached to it.. And most important carb cleaner to clean the inside of IAVC. Plus you can also search for this on the Internet ...1989 honda crx Idle Surges! Hope this helps...

1973 Honda CB450 carb problems

Turn the air screw and throttle screw all the way inward until they LIGHTLY seat. Now open each of them one and one half turns. That is the factory setting. Chances are the carbs are gummed up with varnish from evaporated gas. Disassemble the carbs and soak them in denatured alcohol for 30 minutes. Now clean them with spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. You need to be sure all the jets and fuel circuits are clear. You may need a service manual sometime. Here is a website that looks like it may have a free download. Even if they want $20 or so, a service manual is handy to have around. http://www.mediafire.com/?jnyzijmfydw
