Question about 2002 Triumph Triumph Thunderbird

1 Answer

Thunderbird Purchase. Hi, I am thinking about buying a 2002 Thunderbird with full service history and all the old Mots. The bike is mint with only 2,000 miles. Is there anything I should be concerned about. I have been warned about the Spragg clutch? Any info would be a help. Kind Regards Phil.

1987 gsxr250 parts availability-maintenance

Most dealers will not work on a bike over 10 years old due to parts not being available. Check with a couple of Suzuki dealers. The best source of parts I am aware of for older bikes is Babbitt's.
Personally, I would try for a newer bike.

Things to look for before buying a 1987 K100LT

Hi, Dan for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. For more information about your issue please visit the website below. Good luck and have a nice day.

How to change centre spark plug on my thunderbird 900 is there a special plug spanner and where do i purchase one.

I recently had to change my sparks on my 2002 thunderbird. It certianly wasn't a simple case of remove fuel tank as you still get the spine of the bike blocking your path. Any standard box spanner and even the Triumph spanner failed to get enough clearance to access the plug. Short of removing the whole engine block I removed the top cover of the engine and used a shorter 5" box spanner. Fiddly job but with the tools at hand worked. Unless someone knows of any specialist bendy spanners?

Looking at buying a 1998 BMW 1000RT w/40K miles on it.

In short, BMW prices are directly proportional to the service history and condition.
Personally, I think $6200 is high. I bought a 2000 model RS with 15K miles for $3200, full service history, lots of factory extras - panniers, top box, tank bag, screen, seat, etc. It had a little road rash on one fairing panel, but that was $300 to put back to perfect.
I would expect to pay around $6K for a similar vintage LT, not an RT. IF it was mint, maybe 6K is the right price... I would look for between $4500-5500 for a tidy one - good tires/brakes, great exhaust, immaculate paint, full BMW service history, warranty.
