Question about 2005 Suzuki GSX-R 600

I have a 2005 GSXR-600 that starts up and idles perfectly. While it's sitting there you can rev it over 7000 rpm just fine. Once you start riding it tho it will bog down around 7000 rpm thru the gears. The only aftermarket part on it that I know of is a full Yosh tri oval exhaust. Could it need a power commander? Someone was telling me that the back pressure from the Yosh exhaust is different throwing the bike into a "limp" mode and not allowing it to rev higher. Oh, almost forgot to include that the red light on the cluster is on. Can anyone shed some light on this? Many thanks in advance!

When i had a similar problem i couldnt go fast than 100 and that seemed to be the top speed.. and i could never get it close to redline only about 8500rpm max... so i had taken the carb bowls off to have a look at the jets and sure enough #1 jet had vibrated and fallen off into the bowl, it was just pouring out raw fuel and bogging it down, other than that, everything else worked great. but if you dont think its the jets and think that something else is wrong with your carbs in general, then purchase some Sea Foam and pour in 1/3 can to 2 gallons fuel and ride around for 10-15 miles and see if this wont restore all your power. it worked for me once! if none of this info works then it may just be the exhaust pipe. i have a old Hardine race pipe on mine and the baffles are old and wornout, i swear its straight pipe now.. but man it breathes really nice, and my old 87 cbr kicks everyones **** off the line at the track, even liter bikes,(except for R-1's). I myself cant believe it.. but i atribute it to my exhaust system and the performance spark advance gear that replaces the stock one in my pulse generator system.

The only problem to your solution is that the bike in question is a fuel injected motorcycle. I am trying to fix the same exact problem on my friends gsxr. the only thing i can see happening to my friends bike is that the primary flaps work fine but the secondary butterflies are sticking a little. if this does not work then my second ave is to go to bigger injectors because the bike is starving for fuel. this bike has a k&n air filter and a d&d exhuast. if these two things do not work it most likely will need a power commander to remap the fuel system to dump more fuel for the added air and the release of air. But the second part to the problem is the FI light is on too. which i need to jumper the servo to stop that. so from her it is on you because one of those will fix your bike and the one i am working on.

    Gsxr cuts out


    replace the fuel pump or adjust the TPS. It doesnt do it in nuetral its because it is not under a load. Put in dealer mode to check the TPS. It should read -COO... If the - is not in the middle (if its up top or on bottom) it needs to be adjusted.

    If is runs better with full choke, then the bike is lean, check for air leaks at the carb manifold, vacumn cracked hoses, non standard exhausts, perhaps the mufflers have rusted out while sitting

    My GSXR 750 J runs extreemly rough between 7000 and 9000 rpm. Its a mildly tuned engine with after market cams, a dynojet kit and I recently installed some inline fuel filters. The bike runs perfectly...


    I would check and adjust the static ignition timing as if too far retarded it will tend to misfire at mid range revs. and suffer from lack of power at the top end.

    I'm having problems starting up my 1999 suzuki gsxr 600. In the morings and while it sits at work.!!! But starts up fine after RIDES. What's the problem?? anyone KNOW?


    I would check there is good fuel flow and not a pinhole letting air in to the pipes. Check the mixture if it is temperature sensitive and check the plug gaps.

    Sounds like the carbs were not properly cleaned or set up. Choke should cause the cold start rpms to be higher than what you are experiencing. Application of choke to a warmed up engine will usually cause the engine to stall.

    Rough idle = tune up

    There is a rev limiter on the Matrix set at 6500-7000 rpm
