Rotor Assembly Stuck in Drawer Cavity


This picture of the rotor shows two of the three clips that hold it in the washer tub. They protrude from the smaller tan disc sitting just above the red magnet subassembly. Normally, you would unlatch and remove the filter plate, then unlatch the rotor assembly by turning the larger tan disc (with the three arrow tabs) counterclockwise until it stops. Since the top of your assembly is broken off, you'll need to turn the smaller disc counterclockwise about 1/8 turn, so the clips can slide up through their slots. The magnets in the rotor also hold it down somewhat, but it should be possible to slide the rotor out by hand.

The rotors in my double dishdrawer were deteriorated to the point that the plastic around the magnets was crumbling. Note that although the plastic around the magnets is red in this picture, all 4 rotors I have actually seen have blue plastic encasing the magnets, similar to that used for the impeller. I suppose it is possible that your magnets have come completely loose, and are jamming the rotor in place, or that some other foreign matter is caught in the drain impeller at the bottom of the rotor. But there isn't normally any physical connection at the bottom of the rotor- the lower impeller spins freely to pump water out the drain.

My 1980 CB650 won't charge. The mechanic has checked the stator, rectifier (new), rotor, ignition boxes (new), and fixed some broken wires. He has given up on it as it still isn't charging. Is there...


If the coils in the stator are okay AND the magnets in the rotor are okay then the problem has to lie somewhere else. Is the mechanic certain that he spliced the broken wires to their correct mate???

If all the parts are new or checked okay then I would most definitely check it wire by wire and it would be more helpful if you can find a wiring diagram in a honda manual for your model.

Magnets broke on flywheel


it needs to be replaced you cannot fix that.. you may even be able to find a used one at a local junk yard seeing how they may be a little expensive.. let me know how you make out.. and also make sure you clean it well

Ryobi chainsaw magneto gap


The gap needs to be as narrow as possible without any actual rubbing of the rotor against the magneto. The spacing is not as critical as with spark plugs or points (remember them?) since unlike those gaps there is no spark jumping across this gap.

Generally, as long as the magnetic field is strong enough, the magneto will produce the necessary spark at the spark plug. The closer the magnets are to the coil, the stronger the magnetic field will be across the coil, and therefore the stronger and hotter the spark.

I have replaced magnetos and they are simple to install, and almost impossible to mess up if you do it this way. All you need is a piece of thin cardboard (not corrugated). I use a glossy business card without raised lettering (so it slides easily), or the like.

1) Rotate the flywheel so that the magnets are NOT positioned in front of the magneto, then loosen both screws of the magneto so it can move freely.

2) Insert the business card between the magneto and the flywheel such that the glossy side of the business card faces the rotor.

3) Then BEND the business card back over each side of the magneto (in other words away from the flywheel) so it stays fixed and can not move from side to side when you rotate the rotor.

4) Then while pinching the magneto and ends of the business card tight between your fingers, rotate the flywheel to position the magnets directly in line with the two sides of the magneto.

Note: The magnets will grab the magneto and try to move it. As long as the slippery side of the business card is facing the rotor and you haven't removed the screws, it should move fairly easily.

Since the magnets want to pull tight to the magneto, but the business card thickness is the same across the entire surface, this gives you an even spacing between both sides of the magneto and the rotor. Essentially, the magnets on the rotor do all the work for you. with regard to alignment. As long as the magnets (flat shiny polished square surfaces on the outer rim of the rotor) align directly with the two faces of the magneto, the alignment is automatic.

5) Once you have the magneto and rotor in perfect alignment, cinch down both screws in an alternating method, first just to where they start to grab, and then back and forth a few times until they are firmly tightened.

6) Now, unfold the flaps of the business card and let it move with the rotor instead. You should be able to rotate the rotor away from the magneto and the business card should slip out easily. It may stay where it was or it may slide out from the magneto - either way will work.

7) Once past the magnets, the business card should come out. You may have to move the rotor back and forth gently a few times to get it to come free. When you are done, the magneto should be in perfect alignment with the face of the rotor and the rotor should spin freely without any rubbing.

8) Confirm the above and then reassemble and go cut some trees.

Washer will not spin LG Washer WM1832CW


1. Open back of the washing machine and control panel. Locate two wire harness coming out of main motor and main board. Check the wires for any cuts and harnesses for any corrosion. Fix the cuts and sand the corrosion to fix the issue.

2. Check the windings on the motor by pulling 3-wire connector from main board. Check resistance between each of 3 pairs using multi meter. The resistance should be 8-15 ohms. If one or more pair has no resistance reading then the winding is burned. Replace the rotor winding.

3. If windings are fine then the hall sensor or speed sensor or motor sensor or sensor assembly needs to be replaced. The hall sensor sits on the inside of the rotor winding. Hall sensor has 4 wire connector attached. To remove the hall sensor: Open the outrunner or magnetic rotor from the motor first. Remove a big bolt at the center of the motor by holding the magnetic rotor. Once bolt is removed, the magnetic rotor can be removed by simply pulling it straight out. You may have to wiggle it a bit. Now remove a screw holding a wire going to hall sensor towrds bottom left of the winding. Now remove six inside bolts holding rotor windings to the drum body. The rotor windings are heavy so be careful while removing the bolts. Remove two wire connectors from the rotor windings and pull out the windings. Lay the rotor windings flat facing connector side up. Remove the hall sensor by praying out tabs.

New rotor was battery question


so I removed the stator and took it in to get a replacement. The shop tested it or me and found everything in working order. I have done the tests for the regulator/rectifier and it seems to be good. My manual tells me that the only way to test the rotors is to swap them out with new ones. should I not be able to tell if these rotors are magnetized without swapping them? The rotors that I have currently are original to the bike and do not seem to have any magnetic charge at all. When I took the stator in I was shown used rotors that they would sell me as a replacement but these also had no magnetic field to them. How can I tell without shelling out $80 bucks for used rotors that may or may not be good? And am I even on the right track??? I'm still only pulling 13.5 volts out of the charging system and I need help. I looked at the microfiche for your bike. the rotors are only magnetic when the field coild is energized. You do not have a permanent magnet rotor. so no magnetism when unenergized is normal.,

Motors work with magnets. These may be permanent, or more commonly elecromagnets. These are the rotor, and the field magnets. Another type of motor just uses a field magnet and iduces flux in the rotor.

Either way, it sounds like one of the main coil windings has either burnt out or mechanically broken.

If you want to remove it and test the coils with a meter (check resistance of each) this should show the fault.

If a coils burn't out. it's scrap .
