Question about 1994 kawasaki VN 750 Vulcan

1994 Kawasaki VN750 Vulcan, transmission won't shift

Stopped to put on a coat, the bike would not go back into gear, shift cable & foot pedal okay seems to be in the transmission. Was told it would take a completed tear down to fix the problem. What causes this problem, is it worth spending several thousand to repair? The bike only has 14,000 original miles on it! What would you spend to fix it, paid $3,000 for the bike to start? @

Hi, Rock_johnson and the usual suspects are:
1. Improper clutch adjustment or not disengaging.
2. Bent shift shaft.
3. Shift fork bent or seized.
4. Gear seized on the shaft.
5. Gear positioning lever binding.
6. Shift return springs weak or broken.
7. Shift return spring pin loose
8. Shift mechanism arm spring is broken.
9. Shift mechanism arm is broken.
10. Shift drum is broken.
11. Shift lever loose on the shift shaft.

When i pull in the clutch and shift into gear my bike jumps and dies. it doesnt seem like the clutch is working

That definitely sounds like the clutch is shot, like it's not even there.Inspect both ends of your cable first before going to replace the clutch.Sometimes either end of the cable will fray and pop off the little bead stopper. It also could just need re-adjusting at the clutch end.If you are up around 70-80K miles, probably the clutch though.Good luck.

1997 kaw 1500 vulcan, will not shift into 2nd gear, is this something I can fix myself, or does it need to go to a shop

the 96 and 97 vulcan classic 4 speed transmission is garbage. Fixed mine 3 times. still no 2nd gear. Shame on you you Kawasaki.
My advice, drive it off a cliff somewhere and then go buy a honda vtx.

My 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 is struggling in fifth gear, and intermittently tachs high at speeds over 55mph.

If the bike is reving high in top gear but you are not gaining speed or very little speed your clutch is slipping. This is a sign the clutch needs replaced.
