All "electronic" Softail ignition switches used since 1996 are the 3 terminal type.

How Do I remove the Tank Mounted Ignition Switch on my 2011 FLSTC?

IIRC, it's in the speedometer housing, right? There's one nut that holds it on from the rear, and I think it's tabbed in the front, or you will see how it hooks up when you lift it. Then it should be fairly simple to get at from behind. Let me know if I'm mixed on this, I can't recall exactly how the 2011 is, but it should be close to the older ones.

I have a 2001 FLSTC (carburated) that is not getting any spark to the plugs. Have tested plug wires and coil with ohm meter and they test within spec. I have also tried new spark plugs.

Looks like the ignition module or crank position sensor. Some carb models also have a cam position sensor. Get the trouble codes from the speedo and diagnose from these.

No spark

Hi David, on twin cams make sure both spark plugs are in heads and use a grounded third plug to check for spark or hold spark plug cable close to spark plug in head. If still not getting spark the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Battery voltage below 8.7 volts, loose or broken battery cables especially ground cable to frame.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
6. Failed CKP, CMP, MAP or BAS sensor.
7. Faulty ignition switch.

2009 FLSTC... a locksmith broke off a key in the ignition switch. The ignition is in the "on" position so I can ride but I can't lock the ignition. How do I replace the ignition switch

I assume that the 09 is the same as my 07.Remove the single nut cap in middle of dash console.(1/2 inch wrench)The console will lift off and the ignition switch is held on with four(?) screws.Unplug connector, plug in new and reassemble.

What type of ignition switch is on my carbed 2002 FLSTC? Why is there a 3 tab and a 5 tab switch available?

Knowing how cheap some companies are I'm surprised there are 2 switches. My guess the 2 xtra tabs go with the flstci injected models. You could use either one just watch how you wire it.I would guess you need the 3 tab one.
