Some trans were notorious for being hard to find neutral. When in first and you want to go into neutral, put slight pressure on the shift lever, blip throttle and slip lever into neutral. It has something to do with pressure release on the clutch plates.

Extended cab. How do I uncross gears?

if you are stuck in gear it is not a basic rebuild but a bad rebuild
because of the design of the gear selection process , it is impossible to have 2 gears selected together as one selector shaft will not move unless another selector shaft is in the correct position ( neutral ) to allow the detente balls to move out of the way so the next selector shaft can move
it is possible that the gear stick is not in the correct position when it was installed back onto the top of the box and one gear was selected and the end of the lever came out of the selector slot or all the selectors were not in the neutral position and so the end of the lever went behind a selector rail
pull the gear lever turret of the top of the box, move the selector rails until they all line up as a slot across all of them , then put the gear lever end back in that neutral slot

Harley deuce wont turn high rpms unless its in neutral

broken neutral indicator in transmission, or broken gear indicator in transmission. ECU receives a signal that there is a condition "unsafe" for the engine to rev, and pulls ignition usually that condition is that the gears still in neutral. or the sidestand is extended.
other condition is: since the engine is in a "no load condition" the energy needed to rise the rpm are very low, hence use of fuel is very low, but when loaded the engine gets very lean and does not accelerate, start with filters, fuel pump cappacity, or TPS switch correct operation.

Neutral light in 5th gear

Hi Anonymous, there were a bunch of guys that bought trans covers off e-bay and had the same problem. the year on covers could have been mislabled or the wrong covers shipped i don't know. You have a few options though. Check to see if the casting numbers on the inside of the covers match, go back to your old cover, or take the new cover down to your local dealer and see if they can match it to a new updated nuetral switch. Bring the old cover as well. Good luck

Gear box goin in to gear but still like it is in nutural

If you select a gear without pulling clutch in it will grind and stall.
If you are certain the bike is engaging a gear and still seems it is in neutral, your clutch drive is broken.
Alternatively, the gear selecter fork bolts maybe loose behind the sidecover, allowing selector to partially engage only and return to neutral. Try selection thru' higher gears, place bike on a stand and turn back wheel in gear, if gears turn and motor doesn't...it is the clutch. If you cannot select a gear proper with rear wheel turning, your selecter is suspect.
Goodluck, and Cheers.

2001 mitsubishi eclipse. Automatic transmission

Transmission may be low on transmission fluid or the transmission fluid pump failed. If it's electrical, you can still get it in to gear, but would not shift gears. Good luck and keep me posted, check transmission fluid level and have the transmission line pressure tested. Before that check all your fuses.

Gear selection problem

the shifting fork shaft, that the shifter actually connects to is probably bent. it might be impossible to see the bend with the human eye, but just a slight bend will make it makfunction. replace it.
