I'm sorry to say that it's the dogs on the gears (the bits which engage into slots on idle gears)
After a while the edges of the dogs & slots get worn & the engine will jump out of gear especially under hard load
It's a gearbox strip & UK£80+ per gear, off which you will probably need 4 or more

Ride safe
Please mark this as very helpful (if it has been!!) - it helps my ratings

I have a 03 yamaha vstar 1100 classic and here latley when accelerating hard in second gear the bike seems like the transmission is skipping (not slipping)... any ideas as to what in the tranny is causing...

Sounds like a bent shift fork. While accelerating you can feel the power cutting in and out quickly. The problem will get worse if you keep pushing 2nd gear till it slips. You can learn where (at what RPM) it wants to jump out and start shifting before it jumps out. The long term fix is opening the transmission and fixing the bent shift fork.

2007 chevy cobalt skips while in 5th gear

did ur check engine light come on,,,did it feel like a trailer hitching kinda..u know like if u had a trailer on and it kinda bucks when u take off,,if u have a lil engine miss under a normal condition it will be amplified 100 fold when its hot under a load.. try to get it up to operating temp and power brake it stall it up to about 3 to 3500 rps..don't hold it more than 15 seconds at a time don't wanna scald those clutches, if it starts breaking down " vibrating , steering wheel vibrating excessively,,u probably need a tune up..

My explorer idles fine in park but skips and misses when under load

K the next thing to check is the throttle position sensor. It's probably going bad. The same thing happened to me on my 1995 F250 5.8L

1997 dodge ram 3500, it shudders in OD

Hey, I also have a 98 ram with the cummins and what you are talking about is when you are pullin hard in overdrive the trans is working to hard causing the shudder, when this happens back off the throttle and get back on the throttle to allow the trans to downshift. If you dont it will break the overdrive gear. There is nothing wrong with the trans it is just that it is shifting to early and bogging down causing the shudder.

Ford Contour (2.5 V6 manual) jerks badly with throttle modulation

Check the lower motor mount near the drivers side. This usually is a problem with these cars. It costs about 140.00 or so depending where you reside. Also check the passenger side hanger bearing on the CV shaft if this is loose it will cause jerking too.

Idles high drops to normal then increases again

either a vacuum hose has come loose or is worn/cracked, or you might have a leaking head gasket.
when engine is running at a normal idle,... spray some carb cleaner around hose fittings and the intake manifolds one carb at a time..if the idle goes up..there's your problem.

Honda V1100 Jumps out of gear on full throttle acceleration

More likely it is a slightly bent shift fork not fully engaging into second. The clutch and bearings are not suspect. Remove your foot from the shift lever then go full throttle in 2nd. Those new riding boots may be doing the magic unconsciously. Adjust the shift lever height if that is the problem.
