Easy. just remove the water pump from the engine. now, you remove the shaft from the water pump, and put the new seal in. The other way that sometimes works, is prize the old seal out with a very small screwdriver, and then just tap the new one in over the shaft.

Rm 250 starting problem

Hi, Dave and the usual suspects are:
1. Enrichner system plugged, not properly functioning or improperly operated.
2. Fuel overflow.
3. Restricted fuel supply.
4. Gas cap and or fuel tank not venting properly.
5. Plugged slow jet or passages.
6. Inlet system air leak.

I have a 2003 VL 800 Suzuki. I have oil leaking from behind the water pump housing. And yes it is coming out of the small hole behind the water pump. Could this be the oil seal on the water pump? Steve

yes steve- this is the water pump by-pass hole. There is a secondary backup al behind it to stop the water entring the gearbox. Replace the waterpump seal. Most suzukis' use a mechanical seal. they are prity easy to change- although usually requires removal of the clutch cover. I always replace the mechanical seal, back up seal & the bearing all at once.If it is a standard seal type- be sure to ckeck the shaft of the impellor for groves worn in it where the seal contacts the shaft - in mechanical type seals this does not apply.
Hope this helps regards
Andrew

How do you change water pump seal 98 rm 125 !!???

It should be just that, a leaking seal, gasket. The water pump is external on that bike and doesn't go anywhere but the cooling dept.It doesn't get mixed with oil or anything. Take off the pump itself and replace the gasket. I think that should do it, unless it is the pump itself leaking.

I have white oil dripping out of my 2001 rm250.. what do i do?

hi,you arent going to like this ,but it is water from the cooling system getting into your transmission,rm bikes are famous for it,you will probably find that there is a seal on the back of the water pump (which is driven off the crank)has failed letting the water in to the gearbox, drain the gearbox, flush it before running it again, but get the faulty seal fixed first...hope this helps...cheers

Gear oil silver wear would water be coming in? Rm250 1996 oil had extra 250 mls drain out. Am stripping bike down now where would the problem be in the top of head? Not sure what to look out for

To have silver oil coming out might indicate a problem worth looking for.Silver is usually aluminium.Maybe a spun bearing or bush?If the oil was milky silver, water seal and possibly a g/box prob.Hope this is a good starting guide for you
