This is part of the system. The carb has a hose(s) that comes from the crankcase that pull oil mist into the carb to be burned. Sometimes the system is overwhelmed and gathers in the airbox, and leaks out, especially at higher speeds. Later model HDs have a a different sytem. You may be able to relocate the hose and have it dump the oil though a small filter made for this, from there it goes onto the ground.
There's nothing to worry about, it's just messy.

Trimmer will only run for a few secs then dies out

First, use the same oil and mix it the same from batch to batch, once you have made a batch (gallon or what ever, never add gas or oil to make more, use up the batch to the last drop, then make a new gallon). Be sure the air filter is clean, some are weted with oil to catch more dirt and provide a bit of extra suction, clean and spray it with a spray cookingoil or soak it in oil fuel mix. Next: Look for 3 adjustment screws on the carb. should be three total. 1 screw is for idle adjustment. the other 2 should be close to each other, one is low speed fuel/air mix and the other is high fuel/air mix. Adjust the low fuel/air mix screw until it will idle un-added with the throttle then adjust the idle on the throttle to get a good idle speed. Next adjust the High fuel/air mix until it gets the RPM's you want it to have. It should go from idle to high speed with out hesitation or cough. It should also run with power to cut any weeds or limbs with out bogging out.

Runs good for about 10 mints then looses power and dies. I have changed plug, air filter and fuel filter. Its like its over heating

if this one runs Two cycle fuel mix , then its 4 sure overheating from an inproper fuel/oil mix , this will sure lead to engine dammage and require replacement of engine to fix

ck your owners manual for proper fuel/oil mix or some times its on/near the fuel cap as well

5216 simplicity riding mower has gas going in with the oil

the needle and seat in the carb needs replaced. or if it has a vaccum operated fuel pump, the diaphragm may have a hole in it causing the gas to enter thru the pulse hose.take your air filter out and check to see if theres fuel puddling down inside the carb

My cutoff saw won't start, compression is good, has oil/gas mix, gets spark from wire but sparkplug was dirty so i cleaned it and she still won't turn over

If the saw briefly runs when you prime the carb and/or cylinder with gas then most likely fuel is not getting thru the carb. Try rebuilding the carb and replacing the fuel filter first. You can also search on youtube and google for troubleshooting tips.

While using Craftsman blower it was running low on gas. I turned it off and when i opened the gas cap, it appeared to be highly pressurized. I filled the tank and when I pushed the primer bulb to restart...

Check age of gas. Cannot be more than 30 days old. Make sure to use fresh gas w/synthetic 2-cycle oil @ 40:1 ratio (1 gal.) Gas to 3.2 oz. Oil). Do not use old or stale oil/gas mixture. Always use the proper oil/gas mix. If you do not, your engine will suffer rapid, permanent damage. May need to clean or replace carburetor, fuel lines, and fuel filter.

Keep burning up piston on exhaust side of 066 stihl on second jug and piston i know oil mix is right running three other stihl saws on mix

It sounds like you are running lean. Not a lean oil/gas mix but a lean Air/fuel ratio. This engine runs hot as a high performance engine. any air leaks such as crank seals, manifold gaskets or muffler gaskets can give you too much air for the fuel coming in.

Secondly from the fuel side:
Ethanol (curse it) combines with oils that have no nondispersants making a white chalky poweder in the fuel system causing less fuel to mix with air. any blockage or pin hole leak can cause less fuel to be brought into the engine thus less cooling and lubricating.

Your carburetor and fuel filter need to be serviced and adjusted correctly or they will affect the mix.

When done the engine should run no faster than 13,000 rpm top no load speed.
This engine should idle smoothly at 2,500 with no more than 150 rpm change

if the speed is not as listed above when the rebuild is done you need to go back into the machine.

Call up a shop like www.arcolawn.comto get a EDT8 tach. it is well worth the money.

good luck

When first started black smoke comes out exhaust pipe,, what could this be

Black smoke is burning oil. Blue smoke is usually transmission fluid due to a leaking modulator valve in the older auto transmission. White smoke is due to water getting in to a cylinder from a bad gasket, cracked block or a cracked head. Black smoke from engines on starting and/or running tends to mean there is fuel leaking into the engine, or the fuel mix is incorrect and not atomised correctly. the main causes are normally a nakered air filter that isnt letting enough clean air into the engine to mix. a blocked fuel filter, which is either not letting enough fuel in, or in some cases, a faulty fuel filter which is letting too much fuel into the engine, and causing black smoke due to excess burning. Black smoke is a fuel/air mixture suggestion problems with injection or carbonation. Cause of black smoke is due to running rich in the fuel air mix. Check the oil,the oil leak, the air filter, the fuel pump and fuel filter to confirm the fault.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation

Puchased a rover quick start 6 months ago. No revs

Black smoke should not be coming from your air filter. If however, the smoke is coming from your exhaust this could be the result of dirt clogging your air filter and starving the engine of air, hence causing the motor to run on a rich fuel/air mix. If this is the case clean or replace the air filter element, and keep it clean. Another reason for black smoke blowing out is dirty oil in the crank case, if the oil is very dark brown to black in color or smells burnt then it needs replacing.
