Question about 2003 Harley Davidson XL 1200 C Sportster Custom
Under the left-side, side cover. Pull on the top of the cover (just under the edge of the seat), and it will open. Place a towel or something over the master cylinder and the footpeg to avoid scratching the cover, and allow it to swing down. If it won't swing down, just lift it and it will come completely off. Just to the rear of the frame rail you will see the fuses.

look behind the panel on the left side by the battery. pull the fuse holder down. realease the little clip and tug it downwards. It sits in grooves and the body of the fuse block just slides up and down.

The only idea that i can come up with is that you dont have a good ground..or the guage was bad when you bought it..i hope this..Keith
