I'd use a full synthetic 75-140. But you'll get other suggestions as well. I've run the full synthetic 75-140 in both my HD's since 1990. It is expensive but worth it to me for as often as it is changed.

How do you repair leaking transmission oil on 2003 road king?

Take out the screws, drain the oil, remove the gasket and use brake cleaner to clean the thread holes and screws. Then put sealer like permatex on the gasket and the screws and put in back together.

Were do i fill the transmission fluid on a road king 2002

Hi Anonymous, on the right side cover of the transmission where the clutch cable screws into there is a cap that takes a 3/8" allen key. This is your transmission dip stick, on later models it is located on top of transmission, right side in the rear. The transmission holds 20 to 24 oz. of HD Transmission Lubricant. Good luck

2003 road king speedometer stopped working & the mileage isn't changing either

Check to see if there is any back lighting.

Pull the speed sensor from the transmission case and if there are any metal filings on it clean them off and replace it. If there are not filings you may need to replace the sensor. The speedometer head itself or wiring conneftors could be the porblem as well.

CAN'T FIND THE OIL DRAIN PLUG ON MY (NEW TO ME) 2003 ROAD KING.

On the Road King, the oil pan is on the bottom of the transmission. Usually the engine oil drain plug is the one closest to the left front of the pan. The transmission oil drain is also under there so make sure the right oil is coming out. If it looks too clean, you're probably draining the transmission.

Good Luck

What type of transmission fluid goes into a 2005

Your 2005 RK came with H-D Syn3 20W50 synthetic motor oil in the transmission. There are other lubricants available such as Amsoil, Royal Purple, and Mobil. You'll have to go to their websites to find out which ones are compatible with your intended usage.

Good Luck

I have an oil leak on my 2003 road king from a tube that comes up from the transmission & loops downward what is this from?

That is the transmission vent tube. Stand your bike as straight up as you can get it. On the right hand side you'll see a chrome cover where the clutch cable runs into it. There is a plug in this cover that uses a large hex key (7/16") to remove it. There is a dip stick on the plug. Check the level of the fluid in the transmission. If it's too full, this will cause oil to come out of the vent tube.
