Our maytag maxima washer will not go into high speed

Do you mean high speed during the spin out in the cycle? If so, you will need to replace the direct drive coupler that is between the motor and the transmission. The coupler has 2 plastic trianges with fingers that fit into a rubber disk (isolation disk). Next you may have to replace the transmission clutch assembly (See links below) that is just below the stem/axle transmission. When i am in 3rd or higher gear and accelerate i can feel the clutch slipping. could it be the type of oil like i herd or is the clutch bad

If it's the original 1996 clutch I'd be surprised if it wasn't slipping. If the clutch & clutch springs are actually still good & working properly, make sure the oil you're using doesn't contain any "friction modifiers". AMSOIL & other companies make synthetic lubricants without friction modifiers. If your oil or an oil additive has friction modifiers, just drain the crankcase and replace the oil with the proper stuff and that may well cure the problem. Replace the filter too.

I need a diagram to show where the clutch pedal spring fits on a 53 focus.the top bit is obvious but i cant find where the bottom hook fits ---.frosty

The clutch pedal return spring fits onto the cicular pressed steel ring that surrounds the clutch linkage. There is a tiny hole on the top edge of the steel pressing. Difficult to see and best found by feeling around top edge but take care as pressed steel has sharp edges.

Will a 95 saturn 1.9 manual transmission bolt to a 98 saturn 1.9 automatic transmission?

This is the automotive equivalent of a ***-change operation. In short, dont do it...
The problem you have is not if the tranny will fit (which it won't as a direct bolt-in replacement), the problem is in everything else that needs to be moded. Your engines computer is not programed to recognize or work with a manual tranny. You would need to modify the console to accept a manual shifter, install a clutch and clutch pedal assembly, plumb the needed fluid systems, and replace the entire wiring harness in the engine bay. In short, if you are asking - this won't go well and even if it did work, the car would not be reliable. By the time you spend everything involved in this project, it would be much cheaper to buy a 95 or 98 Saturn with the transmission that you prefer.
