Question about 1979 Honda CX 500 A
Your fuel petcock (on/off tap) may be restricting fuel flow and the carbies may need to be cleaned.
To maximise fuel flow thru a dirty fuel filter or restricted fuel flow thru a contaminated carby jet, disconnect fuel hose from tank and drain remaining fuel in carbies into a glass and inspect for contaminates. Take off float bowls and spray ($8 retail 400g aerosol spraycan carby cleaner) cleaner down fuel line/hose until it pours out of carbies. Allow to evaporate. Replace fuel filter (there may be a cylinder of white mesh gause inside of fuel hose) and check bottom of tank for rust, scale or debris. Try fresh fuel, new sparkplugs (0.8mm gap) and ensure choke is functioning correctly. Check camchain tensioner is not loose. Keep battery fully charged, replace if the bike can't achieve this when running with no lights..
