You didn't tell me what year Sportster you're talking about. There is a tremendous difference between the early Ironhead Sportsters and the later Evolution powered Sportster. On an Ironhead, torque the four head bolts to 70 foot pounds in three or four steps using a criss cross pattern. Make sure you align the intake ports with the intake manifold prior to torquing the heads down. Please contact me directly for instructions on the torque procedure for the Evolution engine. wd4ity at Good Luck Steve

Start with the shorter head bolt closes to the top or intake tighten thet one then the other then the longer one closes to the intake the torque is 96-120 in lbs then13-15 ft.lbs.then loosen and repeat the same pattern and the final turque is to turn each bolt a 1/4 turn or 90 deg. mark the shoulder of the bolt and count four ridges on the bolt and mark the head surface then turn the bolt and align the marks do this as smooth as possiable Good Luck

Take peg off and tighten torx or Allen head bolt in the frame stud. If peg itself is quite loose the wave washer may be gone or the part is too worn and you need new one(s). You may need a special long ratchet attachment to access the head of the bolt.

I am planning to take the cylinder covers off a harley 1200 and replace with new gaskits. is there anything i need to know other than taking off the 4 head cover bolts and removing and replacing after...

No, that's just about it. Replace the breather valves in the rocker boxes while you have them off. They're just rubber parts very similar to the valve covers. They vary depending on year model. Torque the four 1/4" bolts to 100 inch pounds. Do not loosen or tighten the head bolts.

Good Luck

How do you adjust the clutch on a 07 1200 sportster

Their are 2 ways to adjust the clutch. First slide the rubber boot off the adjustment screw on the clutch cable, you can then make adjustment to cable for the pull. If you need to adjust the clutch itself you need to remove the derby cover, once you remove the derby cover you will see the cam that the cable attatchs to in the center of the cam you should see a post with a slot for a flat head screw driver tighten that post down and then back off a quater turn. when you tighten it down don't over tighten it, just snug.
