1. adjust your throttle cable free play
2. start the bike and warm it up
3. once warm, turn idle up a little high at the adjustment and then adjust the low speed pilot screw to achieve the highest possible idle w/o turning any other screw
4. adjust the idle screw down to an acceptable level
Thank you. Good luck and enjoy,
Lee

Have a Yamaha 9.9 4 stroke - will only run with choke out. when not choked it dies. Solution?

This Yamaha 9.9 4 stroke is an outboard engine, it seems the carburator fuel level in the float chamber may be too low & probabely the primary jet is semi clogged, its time for the carburator clean up.
Please visit this site for a general idea to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faM2nla4_u4
Hope this answer helps.

Yamaha 250 xt looses power in second gear it is as if there is no fuel getting through from the carb

The mixture adjustment should be for idle or idle fuel mixture. Even if that mixture adjustment is off, that will not stop it from making power in second gear. If the motorcycle has been sitting for more than 6 month without being run, the carburetor and fuel system probably needs cleaning.

REVS HIGH WHEN FIRST CRANK IT, GETS HIGHER WHEN PUSH CHOKE DOWN. RUNS OK AT HALF CHOKE.... TRYING TO SELL IT, RAN FINE HAS JUST BEEN SITTING UP FOR A YEAR. PLEASE HELP!?

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables improperly adjusted or pinched.
2. Idle adjusting screw needs to be backed off.
4. Air fuel mixture adjusted too lean start with 2 full turns.
5. Intake system air leak.
6. Fast idle choke ramp is not releasing.
7. Broken throttle return spring.
8. Damaged diaphragm or slide.
9. Faulty MAP, TPS, ATS, O2, sensors or wiring/connector

Starts, idles and runs but quits after a few seconds of cutting

Check the air cleaner and muffler for plugging. One screw adjusts the idle stop (idle speed) position and the H and L jet screws set fuel mixture for high speed and idle speed mixture respectively. Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly) then back each out CCW 1-1/2 turns. This is a basic setting and should allow the engine to start and run. Start the engine and allow to warm up. Pull the throttle full on and adjust H CW until the engine starts to speed up, but 4-strokes. Correct adjustment is when the engine 4--strokes running free, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L needle CW until the engine idles fairly well, but allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust the idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine will continue to run. Hope this helps!

Adjusting the carburator on a craftsman 25cc line trimmer

Replace all of the lines before any adjustments, too small to see air leaks are a common cause the issue you have.

What are the adjustments for the high and low mixture screws on the carbureator? the carbureator is from an echo 500vl chainsaw.

Echo thinks your actual model number is CS-550EVL. Page 14 lists the starting points for carburetor adjustment here:
http://www.echo-usa.com/pdf/documentation/CS550evle_010186.pdf
Additional manuals for you saw can be found here:
EchoUSA
http://www.echo-usa.com/documentation.asp
More choices can be found by typing CS in the model: window then clicking “Search”.

Once initialized this is the best procedure I have found.
Carburetor Adjustment by Madsens.com
http://www.madsens1.com/saw%20carb%20tune.htm
CW is leaner; to lean will destroy the saw. If over tightened closed (CW) the adjustment screw faces are easily marred; marred adjustments are difficult to impossible to set properly.
Clean the air filter; adjusting with a dirty filter can cause a run lean condition once cleaned and the saw run.

There are 2 wav (sound - idle & full – may not be highlighted) files that I find most helpful, I think you will too. HTH

Bike wont start, battery good power to bike tries to start but wont, can push start to get running, whats wrong

If you can push start it it may be a low compression problem. Do a compression test, if its low follow with a leakdown test to determine if it is due to valve or piston leakage on a for stroke. If compression is good, try cleaning the carburators.

Carba/f ratio needs adjusting and use of the choke will help keep the idle circuits clean.

1989 accord lx, idles high at start-up, now it won't stay running

Carburated engines of that year may have an idle screw adjuster. You can see the screw from the outside of the carb. If so, try adjusting the carburator with a screwdriver. Unlike fuel injected Engines they can be manually adjusted.
