When you go to the dealer to purchase the oil, just ask them. 4 stroke engine oil, is about 10W30. and the amount would be about just under 1 litre. sometimes it is stamped on the engine case, how much oil, in cc's.

2005 crf450 is back firing

Hi, Anonymous if your carburetor/exhaust is:
COUGHING is usually caused by an air leak in the intake system and will generally have the same telltale signs, a wet or damp buildup of oil/gas seepage at the intake manifold to cylinder head or carburetor to intake manifold connection and in rare instances a worn throttle plate shaft and or seals.
POPPING on deceleration is usually caused by a lean fuel condition or an air leak in the exhaust system and is generally located where black carbon soot is seen as a flashing build up from any joint connection. This condition can easily be remedied by removing and cleaning both joint pieces and reassembling with high temp silicone and torquing the exhaust clamp to the proper spec.
SPITTING is usually caused by a faulty accelerator pump and or nozzle, or the float bowl needle and seat leaking and overflowing through the main jet mixing well nozzle, or the air-fuel mixture screw is adjusted too lean.
BACKFIRING is usually caused by a sticky/tight intake valve or a timing issue, 180 degrees out or cam chain off 1or 2 teeth.

Hey just need to know how much oil the gearbox and engine holds on me crf450 08. just to clarify the gearbox oil goes on the kick starter side and the engine oil on the gear lever side. also should i warm...

there is clutch oil witch goes on the right side and then motor oil witch goes on the left side.. you should run honda oils in that bike hp4 for motor side and honda clutch oil for the clutch its in a tall red bottel..
about the levels, on the motor side(left) use the sight glass and put it half way. on the clutch side use the small screw thats on the clutch cover for a drain fill it till it starts to come out..but the easiest way to do this is to go by the service manuel specs.. you can call your local dealership to get them also

Just wondering how much engine oil should my 05 wr450f bike take as i dont have the owners manual?

Use 10w40 motor oil, type SG in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell.
