Antifreeze overflow from tank

Antifreeze light came on for a few minutes then went off. I drove the car for additional 20 minutes turning on and off due to several stops. While sitting with engine on for 6-7 minutes gauge went up to 1/2 way. I turned car off as I was still talking - then smelled antifreeze - got out of car and found medium size puddle of fluid on the ground - far right front passengers tire area. overflow tank is 1/3 to 1/2 full of fluid still - seam on overflow tank is wet - no fluid found anywhere else. Could my tank be old 1997 saturn SL

I would check for visible cracks and leaking at the overflow tank when the engine is cold, then when the engine is running and at operating temperature and not running and at operating temperature as well as during cool down. Also check the coolant overflow hose for leaks or obstructions inside the hose or if the hose is kinked. Check to make sure that the overflow tank cap is damage free and securely fastened.

Did you check to see if you have water or anti freeze in the oil? You could have a blown head gasket. This would be why you are adding fluid so quickly. let me know.

Car loses water from overflow cap. Replaced water pump, thermostat and overflow bottle and cap.

Stop me if this has NOTHING to do with your problem (or if it's already been solved)...I don't know a lot about cars so...My Ford Taurus kept overflowing antifreeze from the reservoir cap. Car started to over heat and kept spilling"/dumping" antifreeze every time I turned the car off. The antifreeze reservoir had been replaced less than a year prior, and water pump, radiator, etc looked at. I got a free estimate that stated my water pump was NOT the issue, but I did need a new radiator and my reservoir tank needed to be replaced (again)....$800 parts and labor.... However...I noticed the overflow holes on the tank, and also that the orange liquid (antifreeze), was also spilled around the cap lid. I also noticed the CAP on the antifreeze reservoir would loosen when tightened completely- hence, not sealing correctly. So I went to the dealer, bought a new reservoir cap for $15, replaced it, and never had an issue after! I also found out that the CAP was a DEALER PART ONLY, and when the tank itself was replaced, the CAP was the OLD one! Problem fixed! Maybe it's similar? Or something "more serious".

It overheats went idling at a light. temperature gage rises. when I check the coolant level in the store tank it overflowed. I checked the level in the radiator when it cool down you can see the tubes. I...

Check that the fan is working. You do not give a make or model, so it could be the thermostatic switch, fuse or relay for an electric fan or the viscous clutch if it has that type of fan. If the water bubbles out or you see bubbles either in the radiator or the overflow, you might have a head gasket leaking into the coolant system.

Why is the car leaking antifreeze?vehicle leaking antifreeze and i do not know why, from where?

First check hoses and water pump while car is hot and running. If you find nothing then let car cool down and fill overflow container. Get engine hot again. When engine is hot turn off car and check the overflow tube coming out of the overflow tank. If it is spitting antifreeze then you have air in the system. Bleed system by opening the 7mm bleeder. You may have to do this a few times until all air is out of the system and overflow stops spitting antifreeze.

Power steering is out. overflow tank blowing smoke

The key to this is likely the belt. Is the belt there? Is the tension correct? If OK, do all the drive and driven pulleys turn when it is running? Did it overheat again on the trip back home? Check the system for leaks. Even if you find the problem was not the thermostat, change it. Do not change the pump unless it has a leak or other mechanical failure. Like a bad shaft bearing.

Tuff start ,then no start

If fuel filter hasn't been changed lately I would start with that, as well as adding some gasline antifreeze with moisture remover, or "heet" (brand name). do you always re-fuel at same place? Not sure where your at, but you did say, cold, so moisture in your tank, from warm & cold temperatures would definately cause problems similar to what your experiencing. Do you hear any hum from rear of car when you cycle key to on, but not start, if yes, turn it off & back on, 2 or 3 times & listen for same, then try to start & see if it makes a difference. Try the additive first, as I said, but if that doesn't do it, try to get a fuel pressure test done before & after filter change, or ideal would be when it won't start, as we all know, it won't do when mechanic has it. Let's hope filter cures it.
