My kdx 200 has just come back from a service, and I have just bought it so not clued up on the machine just yet. I have been on one 10km ride. Today I can not get it to start. I have tried with the choke both on and off, have drained the carb and still it does not want to kick start. Could there be dirt in the carb? How would I fault find. The spark plug is clean and spaking, what would the next step be.

The enrichening jet definitely should be held up, while kicking. Starting fluid may also help, in cold weather.. Don't " flood" the motor( you should turn off the petcock, if fuel is dripping out.

I have a kdx 200 and it only runs with the chocke out with the chocke in it dies... what is your opinion ?

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Vacuum line from the petcock to intake manifold cracked.
5. Float needle and seat sticking.
6. Float level too low.
7. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
8. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
9. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
10. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
11. Slow fuel jet clogged.
12. Faulty fuel pump.

Hi. I have a stock 1998 kdx 200 that needed a blackbox. I bought a replacement cdi but the wiring on the bike is different to the 98 cdi unit. Colors are different too. The wiring on the bike is a kdx as...

Try following the wire from the stop button on the handle bar back to the CDI box. Simply unplug that wire. CDI is disabled by grounding. Does the KDX have a key switch or just the stop button. Try just connecting the pick up wire to the CDI and CDI to coil. You have to isolate ground to CDI to run. Check air gap at pick up. Use a matchbook for a gauge.(.018)

Kdx 200 clutch not engaging properly

The clutch in your bike is a wet clutch. There is a lot of hyrdostatic friction even when the clutch is released completely. I think a large factor is the type, age and condition of oil. Perhaps something as simple as an oil change would help.

Fork oil level: 2006 KDX 200

This all depends on what size forks you have, but a good rule of thumb is 120ml. After that then what you want to do is to ride the bike and make adjustments to your front end until your liking.
