Question about 2000 Boss Hoss BHC 190-355-500 Hp

Solenoid swithch my 2000 502 has a bad solenid switch i replaced it and the bike is completly dead i put the old one back on and the bike and the bike lights and will turn over a few times and then stop . i replaced the new solenoid switch with another new one and the bike still will not light up . any ideas thanks dan

Most solenoids are fused these days with the fuse mounted on the side of the solenoid, do the new ones come with a fuse - are they OK

Key fob opens and locks some doors but not all


The problem is with the actuator in the door lock mechanism (located inside the door) on the door or doors that will not respond. . When an actuator fails(which is quite common on older cars with much use) it will need to be replaced.

I had the same problem with an old car. Was a defective battery, one cell was dead. Replaced battery, all was fine.

no, either faulty solenoid or bad wiring through switch, or sensor not working as it should( on side stand or clutch)

Just replaced old battery. When I go to start, won't turn over. After a few attempts battery is completely drained.


Charge your battery at no more than 10% of its rated Ahr rating. When it is charged, place a thick cable from the possitive of the starter motor, (not the solenoid!) and intermittantly touch the positive terminal of the battery.
The motor should spin freely without engaging the starter dog. If it spind easily, then the motor is OK.
If you then connect a wire between the starter cable (thick terminal) to the solenoid terminal and then touch the thick cable on the positive battery terminal. Does the engine turn? If it doesn't;

Put the bike on a paddock stand or get someone to help you steady the bike.
Put the bike in third gear with the ignition switched OFF and turn the rear wheel or push the bike forward. If it moves against compression, the engine is sound and not too tight.
Hope that gives you an insight as to where your problem lies.

I have a 2006 Suzuki Hayabusa. I tried jump starting in with my car. I know now this was wrong to do. I changed out the battery, but the bike is still dead. I checked the fuses and the seem to be fine....


It is OK to jump your bike from a car battery as long as the car is not running and you do not turn the starter motor too long (the starter will overheat).Did you check the main fuse ? It is usually located on or near the starter solenoid and id separate from the fuse block. If you still have no power it is possible that there is a problem with the ignition switch contact base. On some motorcycles you can take them out and clean them or replace them. You can unplug your switch from the harness and check the wires for continuity with a voltage meter. I suspect you have not found the main fuse or you have a bad positive cable coming off your battery. If you get power back to the bike but it will not start , you may have to check into other issues if you tried to start the cycle from a car battery attached to a RUNNING car.

Motorcycle Mechanic Advice on a 1992 Heritage softail. Having ignition problems. Lights come on and I get a clicking in the starter relay, but when I switch it to ignition, there it is completly dead....


I'm a little confused. You said that the lights come on and you get a clicking at the starter relay. Then you say that when you switch to igniton, everything goes dead. From the factory, you must first turn the switch to the ignition position before you can get anything, lights, starter, horn. Some guys set their switches up to be like an old style bike. First click is ignition, second click is ignition and lights. But, since most states now require you ride with your headlight on all the time, Harley simply wires the switch to a "one position" switch.

At first guess, I'd think you have a bad switch because you said the when you went to the "ignition" position, everything went dead.

But, you said that you could get lights and a clicking noise. If the clicking is coming from the small one inch plastic cube starter relay, you may or may not be getting power to the starter solenoid.

Look at the starter from the right side of the bike and you'll see a five sided plate with three small bolts holding on. At the top of this plate, you'll see a single wire connector. Unplug this wire and use either a test light or a volt meter to test for voltage on this wire when you press the start button and the starter relay clicks. If you do, the relay is good but something is wrong in the starter. If no voltage, the relay is not doing it's job.

The cycle select knob may need to be replaced, or u may have a bad solenid in your washer. If a solenoid is bad, it wont allow the washer to go past a certain point in the cycle.

HI, my bike start normally, but when engine starts for 15 minutes, mean engine is full heated. i switch off and again switch on the bike. it can not start again. i replace the complete self and replace...


measure voltage going to solenoid for power when you hit the start switch.... you should hear a small clicking sound coming from the solenoid .if no clicking... the solenoid might be going bad. maybe the starter ground wire is broken internally or its possible that you bought a defective starter...you might want to take the starter to a dealer or repair shop to insure it in good working order. the battery you have should be up to a minimum 12.6v 12v wont be enough! 13v is perfect so you"ll have to get it trickle charged up. Oh and before we go on any further, do you know how to push start a motorcycle?have you tried this yet maybe the engine cylinders is seized up from no oil lubrication...get back to me on this you need to know if the engine is seized-up! put in neutral run real fast along side of the bike then pull yourself on top of bike ,pull in the clutch push down into first gear the pop the clutch while you sit down on the seat at the same time. MAKE sure the key is on when you do this and also make sure the kill switch is set to run. if it starts then this is probably your problem ....not getting enough oil to keep it form seizing up...so turn off the engine quick...don't want any further damage. let me know how it turns out.

Honda CRF 230 dirt bike will not even begin to crank


Check for a good ground from motor to frame and from frame to battery. And if battery is more than 1 - 2 years old (on a dirt bike) replace battery with a known good one. - if this does not fix it check the start switch for dirt and corrosion
