2007 Harley Davidson FLHX Street Glide headlight and brakelight not working

Hi, Robert if your headlight is not working, intermittent, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, dim or surges from bright to dim to bright the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your headlight bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chafed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/low beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty headlight relay.
9. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
10. Weak charging alternator/generator/lighting coil
11. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

I have a 2006 Harley street glide and keep blowing fuse for tail light

Short somewhere in the wires from brake switch to tail. Close visul inspection should reveal a cut or bare wire to frame connection. Or possibly problem in the lamp holder.

Brake lights inopreable

Hi Anonymous, if both the front brake lever and the rear brake pedal do not activate your brake light then you either have a bad bulb, or there is a problem with that docking station behind the tail light, or bad connections and or bad wires either from the ignition switch to the brake light switches or from the brake light switches to the tail lite assembly. So grab your test lite and go to: for a wiring diagram and strat tracing wires and connections. Good luck

Im blowing the accesories fuse and tail light when i hit a bump

Hi Djstreetglid, always check fuses and bulbs first for broken filaments. Then check the connection at the rear fender wiring harness, inspect for corroded, broken or loose pins. Use a dab of dielectric grease and repair as necessary. Check your brake relay if you have one , check your brake light switches for continuity, some models rear turn signals were single filament bulbs only, no running light. If all else fails get out your test light and start tracking the power wire from the harness connection. I need the wiring order at the tail light socket to wire running and stop nlight on a 2009 street bob H-D

I don't have a schematic for a bike this new but usually Harley uses a red wire for the stop light and a green wire for the tail light.

It's easy to figure out. Turn on your ignition switch and depress the rear brake with a test light connected to the red wire. If the test light lights up, that the brake light, if not, try the green wire. One of them should light up when you depress the brake.

Once the wires plug into the plug at the tail light, they both turn to black wires. The turn signal wires are violet (left) and brown (right). Running lights are probably green as well.

This is just a best guess. Harley usually doesn't change much stuff from year to year but electrical wiring is one thing that does change.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.
