first service should be at 1000KM. Just take it easy for that first 1000, then you can start to give it a bit more. Dont be frightened to give it a bit. Break in time can vary a lot, depends how you break it in. Should start to loosen up about 5 to 10 thousand KM

Check your owner's manual for the maintenance schedule. First oil and filter change is in there too.

Does the 2006 accent have a timing belt or chain, and what is the recommended change schedule? If the belt breaks, will it ruin the engine?

It uses a belt. The maintenance schedule is to replace it every 60,000 miles or every 5 years (whichever occurs first). The 1.6 L engine is an 'interferrence' engine which means if the engine valve timing jumps, the pistion heads will strike the valves if they're open when they should be closed/closing.

How much is the 50,000 mile check up and what should be done

What your referring to is called,
Scheduled Maintenance & Preventative
Maintenance

If your asking about cost ,I would guess if you
don't like the cost, you will just avoid
doing any maintenance.

Over your driving lifetime, you should have
developed a log book of things, that ALL Vehicles
need,at specific time frames, in years and mileage

In my 47 years of working on vehicles,I believe
that the Manufactures Scheduled Maintenance
is a waste of time. If you follow it ,it is has been well
documented for over 50 years ,that you will eventually
break down. Your car maker or dealers could care
less what you do

Point being, you set up Preventative Maintenance
for ALL vehicles and treat ALL vehilces the same

You either work on them before they break down
or you don't.

There is no dealer god out there telling you what to do,
that is pure nonsense, whenyou ask about what is
done at what mileage

If your waiting on the maufactures recommendations
based on mileage to take action and service your
vehicle, you surely are not doing what is necessary
to maintain it and with have alot of issues over time

That is the way it is set up. They want you to break down
and buy a new one

I hope this doesn't hurt anyones feelings, but read it and
use common sense. You own your car,you do what you
want, work on it or drive it into the ground, your choice.

How often should my 2003 Toyota Camry be serviced

What kind of service

I service, if you like that word,
all vehicles the same,using time
in years ,as well as milage, and
I do not use the vehicles makers
schedule at all. If you did, you would
break down alot and be in the car crusher
at about 80,000 miles.
You need a log book, and set up your
own schedules, as you learn and the years pass

My 2000 Quest has 170,000 miles and the timing belt broke while I was driving it. Luckily there was no damage to the engine. I want to trade it in and my husband wants to keep. We have not kept up with...

This engine is freewheeling, as requested by Ford for the joint venture program with the Mercury Villlager. So, no engine damage if timing belt breaks. Just install a new belt and maybe the water pump while you are therre and new other belts. It will run another 100,000 miles.

I have 103,500 miles on my 2002 nissan sentra when should I change the timing chain

The timing chain doesn't really have a maintenance period. They don't have a habit of breaking or stretching. Timing belts on some vehicles do have a recomended replacement period. Locate your local NTB, Firestone, or Sears for the maintenance schedule.

Why is my 2002 harly classic hard on fuel

Do you maintain the bike according to maintenance schedule? Do you smell unburned petrol/gas when idling? Do you ride your bike hard all the time?
Firstly have an authorised dealer do a good and complete maintenance service, measure its result again your current condition, any improvement?
Ask the dealer what is the numbers your bike should produce for milage/kilometer per galon/liter consumption and measure against your current notes.

2002 Cadillac Escalade Needs New Transmission

If the vehicle fits your needs, and it still looks good 140,000 miles is only a number. If you love it, consider the 4000 an investment . A 2009 Escalade is surely going to cost a few bucks more :)). As far as what might break next, its a piece of machinery. Seems like you stay on top of things, As far as whether you should go to the dealer. It is electronically controlled. Bring to someone who knows what they are doing. The grief with a sub-par repair along with a large expense, is real tough to deal with. I say stick with the dealer. Good Warranty
