Question about 2001 Harley Davidson FXSTD - FXSTDI Deuce
The throttle positioning sensor is at fault. Two button head screws hold it in place at the throttle body. This part has a built in reostat that has very thin windings and a lever rides on it. As you increase the throttle this lever will move up. In time the windings get a carbon build up and eventually burn causing the throttle to become erratic such as in your case. Simp;y buy a new one and install it and it will be running like it should be
