Question about Honda VT 750 CD Shadow A.C.E. Deluxe Motorcycles

I hear a squealing noise reflected off of my windshield that comes and goes. When it's there, it goes away when I pull in the clutch so I don't think it's the brake. At 26000 miles, I need my valves adjusted and do hear a mild tapping, but the squeal concern me. Any info?

at speed, sound goes away when I pull in clutch and idle down, thinking engine internal or water pump, not suspension or brakes

I've had the shield on for a couple years, and the sound is new in the last 2 months. I work in industrial maintenance and it sounds like a mechanical issue, slipping brearing race or something. It doesn't sound like a squeeking mount or wind whistle. I'm concerned about riding it until I can diagnose problem.

I changed the oil after first hearing it. It seemed to stop, but came back after a long ride and continues. Oil has never run low, and not more than 4000 miles between changes.

I don't know if this will help but I have had 2 shadows with this same type of condition that ended up being the clutch pressure plate attaching bolt that worked its way out slightly and would rotate against the cover at times making a noise until I applied the clutch.GOOD LUCK

I would suggest one simple thing.Remove the shield and test ride the bike. If there is no sqealing noise then there is nothing to worry with the engine. Now with this engine, at 26, 000 miles is nothing for them as these are japanese and I don't think there should be any concern with the valve yet.Hope this helps.

Ok. If you notice the sound goes away when you press the clutch then it seems gear box needs attention but I cannot point you out where exactly by what you have explained. I hope you have enough oil and it has been checked lately as missing on this could be drastic to the engine.

Could be front wheel bearings, or brakes rubbing, or loose windshield gasket or the fork bearings need a little oiling

Check your flywheel, cams, crank, and springs.

Squealing noise when I pull in the clutch

more than likely it's going to be an inner primary bearing. Or it could be the clutch hub bearing as well. Worst case scenario is the trans main bearing, but I would look for debris in the primary first.

Loud squeeling noise when i push in the clutch

Without hearing the squeal, I presume its coming from under the bonnet and only when the clutch is pushed in if so, I would be fairly certain that it is the clutch thrust bearing. To check start the engine, depress the clutch so that the squeal is present. Then whilst it is squealing gently rev the engine, if the squeal varies at at then I would be 99% certain that it is the cause. Unfortunately the only fix for that is replacement of the clutch. hope this helps

Recently there is a lot of scratchy noise coming from an engine of my 2003 V-max when I rev it above 3000 rpm. It goes away when the clutch is pulled. Everything is functioning just fine, except that noise...

If noise goes away when clutch is pulled then it is a loose clutch basket, you need to replace clutch basket and clutch,They make complete replacment kits. Its not a big deal but I would stop riding it till you replace worn parts.Running it the way it is will result in a blown clutch and could do more damage. If you have some mechanical ability you can change this yourself.Good Luck Brian.....

Hello, I purchased a 2003 Hyundai XG350 last month. When I start the car, put AC or defrost on, and then start driving there is a screeching noise that lasts for 10 seconds and then goes away. If I stop...

See if it goes away when you turn the A/C off. The a/c comes on when you sre in the defrost so yo don't hit the windshield with hot air. The screaching is more than likely the A/C clutch trying to engage, that why it was overlooked or ignored by the mechanic. It is a common thing. The battery should be allowed to recoup from the starting of the car which a few minutes of running woll help so the a/c clutch gets full battery voltage to function.. Turning on the defrost and /or the A/c after about 3 minutes of warm up. Open your hood and have someone turn the a/c on and off, you can hear and sctually see the a/c clutch doing its irritating thing. But keep your fingers out off the engine and don't lean over it with loose clothing. Good Luck, Ned

Noise coming from clutch . goes away when clutch is

this sounds like it could possibly be a noisy thrust bearing in the gearbox itself

Squealing noise

Hi there, you are right... the squeeling from what you explained is the throw out bearing or release bearing .
