all you need to do is remove the battery side compartment - pull from the top, and there is a hinge on the bottom. Then unscrew the negative connector -first. Then the positive. Remove the screws for the holder and its done. The new battery will have a moderate charge. You should buy a battery tender and use it to charge it. Also a battery tender will help keep the battery ready to go when you are.

Removing any baffles from the exhaust will reduce back pressure somewhat causing the engine to run lean. If you can put them back, see if that will stop the backfiring. If so, a carburetor-ed engine can be jetted one step richer to compensate for the lower back pressure. A fuel injected engine will likely need a trip to your dealer to make the engine run richer. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: I'd like to remove/modify the
The best solution to this in order to keep performance and sound qualities is to replace your current exhaust.
tho the screamin eagle exhaust systems allow more flow, they are not up to a racing par along with vance and hines or thunder header or so on
screamin eagle is kept in guidelines under the epa so sound is on the lesser side and so is performance,
i would check out thunderheader.net
their systems are the best performing and sound 100% amazing
i will warn you that they are not the prettiest things out their tho
other than that there is on some model screamin eagle exhausts is a small allen button head screw that will remove the baffles. and some don't
