Dpr7ea 9 is the correct spark plug... Oil is 10w40 for cooler climates and 20w40 for warmer climates. Not sure on the specifics of the oil though. I am looking it up now..

Basejumper12, thanks for your input ...

These kind of questions always amaze me. In this case, Jereme_bryan has a ten year old Honda motorcycle and he wants to work on it. I'm guessing this is his first motorcycle and he purchased it 'previously owned'. In my experience, the kinds of parts jereme_bryan seeks are only sold at a full service auto and/or motorcycle parts store (oil excepted). The men and women who work in these fine stores always know what parts are required, any additional parts that may be needed and often, exactly how the job should be done. That is why I suggested Jereme_bryan go to the local Honda Shop for his parts. Evidently, this did not please him. He is missing out on a teriffic resource by not knowing these people.

I have seen motorcycle listings in the spark plug book at the K-mart store at those K-mart stores where auto supplies are sold - but rarely does K-mart stock parts for motorcycles. I have also seen motorcycle listings in the oil recommendation book posted at the K-mart. (this is a lot of running around to save a buck) Still, presumably, Jereme-bryan wants to do the work himself and he wants to know what is required. Does he have the tools? If he has the tools, he probably isn't a stranger to this type work - but maybe he is going to borrow the tools which is fine. The very best place to get this information is the Honda Store, with the second best place being some other brand motorcycle shop. They must be sold in his area - he has one! Why in the world he would spend the amount of time he did to find this site instead of going down to get the parts is a mystery to me - although I am equally sure the owners of this site are glad to get the 'hit'. Oh, by the way, aren't there plugs in the motorcycle now, one that could be removed to check the number?

Jereme_bryan, be aware there is more to keeping your Honda motorcycle running than changing the oil and the plugs though these are very important items. You must do this with the knowledge of what you are doing and the skill to do it. One crossed thread will wipe out any money you will have saved by doing this job yourself.

And where on earth do all the owners manuals go? A good alternative, if the owners manual is missing,http://hrca.honda.com/ a free membership gets one access to the generic service manual for all Honda motorcycles.

... and this is way more than is required to answer the original quesiton.

    Thanks for listening.

What type of oil is the best for a saber with 17000 on it?

This is one of those "no right answer" sort of things...

Right now, my 2001 Honda has roughly 70k miles on it. I can't remember the exact mileage because I had to park her through the winter and stare longingly through the window... First winter I've ever parked a bike. I had planned on painting her but never did. Anyway... I always put the oil recommended in my Honda manual and never have the first bit of trouble out of it. My bf however, he's put synthetic oil in his 2008 Honda since after the necessary break in service. He swears by it.

I would say use the recommended oil. It's recommended for a reason.

Spark plugs fouling in less than a week !! please help

Hi, Hitmagedz and the usual suspects are:
1. Dirty air filter.
2. Fuel mixture too rich or enrichner/choke left out too long.
3. Faulty spark plug.
4. Incorrect spark plug heat range for the engine type or service.
5. Piston rings badly worn or broken.
6. Valve guides are badly worn and/or seals worn, crushed or have come off the valve guide and are pumping oil through it.
7. Spark plug cable weak or leaking check for spark jump in the dark.
8. Faulty ignition coil.
9. Low RPM nonaggressive riding style.

How many quarts does a honda saber vt 1100 hold

You will need 4 quarts of oil. When taking out the drain bolt do not be afraid to push the cooling line out of the way to remove the bolt. Pour in 3 plus quarts, whatever it takes to hit the high mark on the dipstick. Run the engine to fill the dry filter. Recheck the oil level and top off to the high mark. You will use between 3.5 and 4 quarts depending on how much is left in the motor after you rain the old oil. You can reuse the aluminum crush washer but keep a spare on hand in case the bolt was overtightened on a previous oil change and the washer is contorted out of shape.
