Question about 2003 Suzuki VL 800 Volusia

1 Answer

I set my 2003 suzuki intruder volusia up for a bout 5 months because of some health issues. i got it out this week and rode about ten miles and it started smoking. i stoped and noticed oil dripping from behind the air filter cover. i took the cover off and there was probably 1/4 a quart of oil in the filter. how could the oil have got there?

Check the oil level. If you are lucky there was too much oil and this may have been some blow by. More likely though, you may have blown a piston ring. If this is the case, you will have to overhaul the engine or drop in a new one. By the way, was the bike laying on the right side for any length of time?

I have a 2003 suzuki volusia with 34k miles, of those 3k are mine. I bought the bike a month ago and since then it has been my reliable daily drive. The past week the bike has been taking long to warm up,...

Sounds like you may have a air leaking before your carburetor, check your rubber boot that mouths your carburetor to your intake, look for a crack or a pin hole or maybe your clamp needs tightened, at least that is one thing I can think of that may cause the problem you are describing, hope that help you! Good luck Rick.
