Gas trimmer runs for a few seconds and then stops

My Craftsman gas tirmmer is about 3 years old. This season it is starting, runs for a few seconds and then stops. I did get it to run for about 2 minutes and then it stopped. Put new gas in and same result. It did sit for about 3 months with old gas in it between seasons.

Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.
Please rate me, Thanks
Good Luck, I hope this helped

Hi, I have a craftsman 25cc weed wreck. always starts in first time(cold) then couldn't start second time; If starts in first time, after 2-3 minutes (engine warms up) engine automatic stops.

the warmth to the carburetor will cause dirt to expand inside causing this to happen. Usually after 2 to 3 years these caburetors are no longer good to use. A new one will be better to have to run your trimmer
Walbro makes these caburetors and nobody likes to service them for their size is small and the cost is far cheaper to replace than fix

I would take the bowl off the bottom of the carb.. Probably you have clogged up holes that let the gas into the bowl.Or either the needle is stuck up not allowing the gas to flow...That's why pouring gas in carbs would let it run for s few seconds....Also try fresh gas..Gas doesn't have led in it anymore..It don't last year from year...After grass season is over..Buy some from Lowe's or home depot..Pour it into your tank and let the motor run to get it done into the carburetor...Then the next year it will start

Runs on choke a little

sounds like the carburetor has gummed up a bit, and may need adjustments - or, the fuel pickup in the tank has come loose [i.e.: deteriorated fuel lines] - also, make sure your gas mix is FRESH. if your gas mix is more than 2 months old, dump it

Craftsman 34cc 4 cycle weedwacker will not start

Start by removing and cleaning the spark plug. The check out the screen at the exhaust port and make sure that it is completely free of carbon build-up. I never run my equipment out of gas at the end of a season, I usually add some fuel stabilizer to the gas and run some into the carb before shutting down for the season. Hope this helps and good luck.

Have craftsman 32cc gas line trimmer it runs until given gas

Replace the spark plug, clean the air filter and fill the tank with new fuel at the correct fuel oil ratio. Had the same problem last year. Tried to cheat with year old gas.

Trimmer starts immediately, then stops

How old is the trimmer? If still under warranty, Sears can fix this. If not, then my experience has been the problem is a bad coil. This is due to heat build up. When the coil gets hot, it shorts out.
