Motorcycle 650 Yamaha throttle problems

Motorcycle 650 Yamaha
I am looking to find how the throttle cable attaches to the carb. Right now the throttle doesn't return after you twist the throttle open.
I would really like to find a description and a picture of the system.

Check your carb there is a retaining spring holding the carb throttle lever down/back to close. Sounds it is not in its place. Good help?

Hi, John your throttle cables may be out of adjustment, you have pinched or kinked the cables either at the steering neck area or in between the tank and frame area or the cables are dry and clogged with dirt and or rust for more information about your question and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please visit the websites below. How to install choke cable on 400 Kodiak atv ?

Your information is on the ATV Forum

Throttle cable: remove the 3 screws on the right side of the carb, take off the cover, there is small rubber gasket (red) Don't lose it. you'll see the cable attached inside. move the mechanism forward like you're opening the throttle to get enough slack to unhook the cable.

Choke: on the other side of the carb, the choke cable screws in with a plastic nut (10 mm i think) unscrew with your hand, if its tight use pliers or wrench..its easy to unscrew it.

Mikuni carb stuck in full throttle. Everything's

Most modern Yamaha bikes have a throttle "Push-Pull" system. You may need to make sure that the "push" cable is actually set up correctly. Your manual will tell you the exact slack required on both cables. Without both cables operating your carb will not be able to close.

hi sounds like the main spindle shaft that operates the carbs has seized spray penetrating oil wd40 or similar all over the outside of the carbs giving them a good soaking leave for a good few hours
and gently try and wriggle the throttle cable till it starts to move then spray it some more if this doesnt work remove the carbs and clean them out putting penetrating oil inside the throttle bores
you will probably need to take off the lower fuel bowls and clean them out too if its been standing a long time the fuel avaporates away and your left with a lot of corrosion inside that must be cleaned
out as it will block fuel flow through the carbs

Motorcycle Yamaha 2005 YZF-600s (Carbs) idle control knob & cable came unscrewed all the way out. I can't find where it goes back in, I've looked everywhere. any ideas?

hi , look closely where the 2 throttle cables fit onto the carbs, in the middle on the same bracket you will see a stop, this is the point where the throtle stops when you loose go or shut off, as the idle screw adjusts the throttle position the idea is that when closed the throttle rests on the screw instead of the middle bracket, there should also be a spring on the screw end of the cable over the thread this stops it cuming undone, any further help please feel free to contact me, paul

May need a throttle return cable and/or the return spring is not connected or broken
Don't need to know model to fix this though, just a small amount of understanding of carb assembly.

There is an idle screw on the right side of the motorcycle. However, I would suggest downloading an Owners Manual from the internet just for future use. It is free if you go to the correct site.
