2001 yamaha r6 speedometer reads in kilometers not miles per hour. new bike to me, can this be swithed to mph or do i have an import cluster on this bike?

If it's digital there's a button somewhere I'm sure. However if it's a printed read out, then the cluster has to be changed over...however it should also read both. This is a common issue for service men bringing vehicles back from Europe as did I in 1998. Hope this helps !
broken cable if your style bike has that style system, the cable that attaches to the axle shired off, i"ve had that stripped out also before and had to replace it.
You can take it to a reputable mechanic, who you trust and they can inspect it to determine if the 6500 miles is realistic. Also, you can get a free history of your exact machine by going to this website and filling in the information.
okay,for one,the odometer doesnt read in miles per hr,it reads miles driven, and two i have no idea if its possible to change the odometer to km traveled,if you're talking about the speedometer,its already there,get a european cluster :p
