Question about 1983 Honda GL 1100 Innerstate Gold Wing
Something is loose. Since you didn't say from where the sound comes all i can guess is that an engine/gearbox mount is worn out or loose.
If it's an engine noise than it's detonating and that can have a lot of causes(in order of importance): timing advance too high, bad fuel, low fuel level in the carburettor, bad distributor, carbon buildup in the chamber and a lot more.
Check all of these.
