Question about 1991 Yamaha TZR 250 R

1 Answer

My yamaha tzr125r will only run while the start button held in

I have a tzr125r (4hw) same runnning gear as the tzr250r it just has one cylinder instead of two, all the same running gear etc

my yamaha tzr125r will only run while the start button is held on, once i release it dies, got a feeling its just one wire, but im lost, the starter has power, believe thats all it needs, coil has 2 wires onto it, again believe thats all it needs, but i have 1 random wire im unsure of, coming from the wiring loom itself, i assume its to be arthed but its not doing me any favours earthed or disconnected.

Yamaha Tzr 250 3ma problem - will not run on righthand cyclinder. It appears to run at tickover engine speed, but fails to run at higher engine speeds.

Hi, Barry check your coolant level and power valve linkage, your instrument gauges and lights can alert you to most electrical and engine issues they can not warn you about failed engine gaskets or seals so your engine has to resort to old fashion alert methods of colored "SMOKE SIGNALS" here is a breakdown of their meaning:
1. WHITE SMOKE on start-up can is usually caused by a blown head gasket allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber and may start dripping out of the exhaust pipes or mufflers.
2. BLUE SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by failed valve seals. Smoke that is constant while riding is usually caused by valve to guide and piston ring clearances that have exceeded service wear limits.
3. BLACK SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by too much fuel in the combustion chamber this can be due to air/fuel mixture adjustment too rich, accelerator pump improperly adjusted, faulty choke/enrichner or not in the off position, faulty carburetor float needle and seat, pilot jet too large, fuel injectors leaking, smoke while riding is usually caused by the main jet being too large.
It should be noted that aggressive or abnormal throttle operation will cause these conditions to manifest themselves exponentially.

Yamaha Fino scooter won`t start when egine hot. WHY???

Could be a variety of things. Vapor lock from a leaky carb. Carb running too rich. Engine overheated. Heck, could even be some weird wiring gremlin. Hard to tell for sure, but a good solid carb clean and reset should help either way...

Pw50 fires but won't stay running

Hi, Jj9871 and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Float needle and seat sticking.
5. Float level too low.
6. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
7. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
8. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
9. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
10. Slow fuel jet clogged.
11. Faulty fuel pump.
