I am new to riding. My 2003 Harley Davidson FXD Super Glide started fine until I put 93 gas in it now it will not do anything. help please

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Security alarm needs a reset.
6. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

Where does ground cable attach on 93 fatboy?

I don't know exactly on your model. Most of the models you would remove the seat and look for the black ground wire from the battery going to a screw or bolt into the frame. There is no place that is more grounded than the negative post on your battery. From that negative post to anywhere on the frame where you can make a solid clean connection to the frame is as good as any. I reccomend you try making multiple ground to frame connections on your bike. (at least two) for safetty reasons.

Bad ignition switch

tough question to answer as this could be misconstrued as, how can i hotwire this stolen motorcycle... the ignition switch does two things... sends power to the start button and shuts the engine off when turned to that position

Harley has compression but won start

For any engine to run, you must have three things. Compression, spark, and fuel. If you have compression, it must be something else. On your '93 FXR, take the plugs out of the heads, put them back into the spark plug wires and ground them well to the engine. Turn the switch on and press the starter button. Watch for the spark plugs to spark. If you don't have spark, you have an ignition problem. Check your ignition coil, your "Run/Stop" button, and power to the coil.

If you do have spark, then the problem is probably a fuel problem. Take your air cleaner cover and the filter element out of your air cleaner assembly. Make sure your fuel petcock is in the "ON" position. With the engine "OFF", crank your throttle grip wide open. As you twist the throttle to wide open, you should see a stream of gasoline shooting into the throat of your carb. If not, your problem is a fuel related problem.

Good Luck
Steve

Rewireing 93 harley davidson FXLR to 96 Handle bar

On the handlebar switches, Harley hasn't changed the color code scheme very much over the years but you really need a good schematic to know exactly how they are wired up. If you can find either a Harley service manual for a 96 model or a Clymer's manual, it would be helpful. I have a schmatic for a 94 FXDWG that should be alright for your 93 FXR but you need a schmatic for a 96 model bike.

Battery goes dead after couple days

sounds to me like you have a shorted to ground stator. take a meter and in continuity setting with bike off. touch one meter lead to either stator wire where it comes out of the primary and the other meter lead to any good ground if you have continuity or a tone then you have grounded stator.
