Any pair of these wires should put out about 40-60 volts AC
measure the resistance between each pair, this should all be the same, and none of the wires should show a reading to earth.
good auto electricians can rewind the stators and rebake them in varnish, but sometimes more economical to get a new or second hand one

1981 Suzuki gsx750 et I removed the generator cover to check why the battery keeps failing and found there was oil inside? Not sure if the Genny is supposed to run in oil or not, anyone know? Cheers.

Yes the Alternator (not generator) runs in oil, and you are lucky because I owned this very bike and the Alternator and voltage regulator are very prone to failure, replace them (both parts) with the updated parts and make sure the wiring to the voltage regulator is not burned looking, if so rewire the connectors or hard wire them is better. Also never run this with a low or failing battery, it overheats the heck out of the charging system and causes early failure.

Headlight won't work properly on GSXR750

First check for bad connections in the bulb plug, wiring plugs and wiring for damage or corrosion. Something is heating up and breaking a connection. Unplug plugs and fill with dielectric grease. If all else is good replace the bulb.

No spark on 1 2 3and 4 sillinder coils test ok RF 400 R year 96

test for battery voltage at the coils on the orange/white wire. Also check for battery voltage at the CDI module on the orange/white wire. If voltage is present the most common failure is the signal generator (aka pulser coil)

F1 bike will not start

There could be many issues causing no spark on a 04 GSXR750. Check for battery voltage on the orange/ white wire at each coil. If none this model has a history of a failed right hand handlebar switch and or connector. Ignition voltage passes through this switch. Also check the main harness connector under the left side fairing panel near the area of the turnsignal for internally broken or corroded wires. If all this is good check the signal generator(crank position sensor) output voltage with a "peak reading " voltmeter. This is a special type of meter or attachment that must be used. The voltage should be 3-7 volts DC at cranking speed. Good luck.

Hi,my 1982 suzuki gs1100 is not charging the battery. With the bike running at 2000-3000 rpm the voltage does not go higher then 12.5.I used a voltmeter across the battery terminals. The battery was fully...

Hi if battery is fully charged the charging system wont put in more than it needs so 12.5 volts is adequate try putting the lights on and raising the revs and checking the output at the battery if its still the same or lower then you could have a problem usual faults are with the voltage regulater rectifier breaking down if you follow the wires back from the alternater/generator should be three yellow wires to an aluminium finned block under the sidepanel check the output to this unit from the alternater and see if its the same or similar output if your only getting 12.5 volts from the alternater then your problem is with your alternater and it may need replacing but if voltage is good 13.5+
then you either have broken wires to the regulater rectifier or a faulty regulater rectifier a good swop
if a genuine regulater rectifier isnt available and the fact that they were allways a bit trashy any way is to fit one from a honda cb250 superdream as they were much easier to find and cheaper to buy second hand from a breakers yard

Charging failure on a 1987 fz600

The generator will produce ac voltage not dc so the meter needs to read ac voltage. the readings need to be taken between the three wires using two at a time until all combinations have been tried. readings should all be the same. Engine will have to be run at about 5000rpm while readings are obtained. Other possible problem could be the regulator / rectifier unit breaking down when hot.
