    Hi there,

Are there any other upgrades that you did along with the jet kit?

Hi, Jamesjeff76 engine "BOG" is mainly caused by a rich air and lean fuel condition but it can also be caused by a lean air and rich fuel condition this situation rarely occurs and is only caused by the misinformed weekend warrior that owns a toolbox. If the bike has been sitting for months or years you will have to completely disassemble the carburetor and submerge the parts (except rubber parts) in "Carburetor Dip" It usually comes in a gallon bucket with a wire mesh basket that can be purchased at any automotive store. If it is not the above scenario then the following explanation will apply.
The more you open your throttle the more vacuum you are creating in your carburetor venturi and your intake manifold. When you are operating at higher RPM any unmetered air that leaks into your system can become more obvious.
Unmetered air is air that is getting into your system after the fuel has been delivered. If you have unmetered air getting into your system between the butterfly/slide of the carburetor and the cylinder head this will create a lean condition.
All of the rubber components of the fuel system like vacuum hoses and intake manifold that you mount the carburetor to are made of rubber. If none of these components have been changed they are more than likely highly degraded and probably cracked in places to allow unwanted-unmetered-contaminated air into the combustion chamber. Check all of your vacuum lines and vacuum plugs for carburetor synchronization. The vacuum plugs are in the head just after the rubber intake manifolds. The petcock has a vacuum line as well as part of the emission system.
1. Check the intake manifold for fissures.
2. Ensure the bands used to tighten the manifolds down on the intake are secure and have not bound up the manifold.
3. Make sure air box fittings are not warped and fit completely over the carburetor.
Your airbox is metering air and is the first step in a process of consuming air and fuel. The system requires the resistance of the air filter in order to get the proper vacuum to "SUCK" the fuel out of the float bowl and create the proper venturi effect.
Improper mounting and sealing of the airbox will create a small lean effect. This might seem like no big deal but you are inviting dust and debris in your engine that is doing slow damage by not having proper fitment. Fix it so you know it's not contributing to your issue. Pick the low-hanging fruit first.
Do not go and start adjusting anything at this point. It ran fine before. There is something wrong with the assembly or a component. Do not adjust your floats. Get it back to where it was. The moment you start tweaking everything is the moment you lose OEM settings which are a must-have for fine-tuning and maximum performance.
Fine-tuning your carburetor and multi carb syncing come at the very end following the proper procedure established by the Carburetor Gods.

Have a professional carb service and valves adjustment done.
Just replacing the idle jets will not clean the entire idle circuit. Mixture screws need to be removed, circuit needs to be cleaned out, re-installed,and properly adjusted for idle mixture.
If backfire continues valves need adjusting. Best to do both at same time to save on labor.

I have a stock 1989 600xr. I have noticed tha it has a flat spot in the carberation from off idle to full throttle. If I put the choke on this goes away. Temp is around 80 and alltitude is 4000 feet. I...

They often had a flat spot from new, once the restricters were removed.
and there was a performance jet kit at the time.
Stock would mean it has a very restrictive end cap in the muffler, it may not still be there after 20 years, most were removed in the first few days.

you could try raising the needle a notch or two, then maybe a larger main jet.

Make sure it has a good air cleaner first.
Take notes about changes made and improvements.
adjust one thing at a time
dyno jet will have a kit I imagine.

Timing and carby tuning on a 900 ducati

Check the timing by removing the covers and bringing the engine around by hand to the marks at the top of the cams, then peek through the glass, it should be on it's mark. Or better yet, it has to be on it's mark. The carbs have no adj, except for the amount of air going in. What happened to the bike to make it change? Move to a different elevation? Change air filter? Change exhaust? In order to change the way it runs, you will need to jet it. Does it have Mikunis? Get a kit from Dyno-tune, they work great, and they are adj. You can find them on Ebay, I tried the factory setting jets, didn't work, got the dyno-tune kit, worked great. And, depending on the milage, when were the valves done last? That could be the problem right there.

My 1986 gsxr 1100 has a stage 3 jet kit with k&n filter on each carb it keeps messing up the #1 spark plug after i stop riding it for the day. have to replace eveytime i ride.

if its fouling out then you need to move the needle down or use a smaller jet. Stage 3 are a full rich adjustment. Maybe fo to stage 2,

I lost 40 miles to the tank when I put a stage 2 in my 1100 sabre. Regained half that when I adjusted the needle and came down one number on the jets.

No low end response and cam (andrews n4) will not kick in until 4000rpm. Cv carb with dyno jet kit installed. Slow jet is 42, 170main and eclip is on 3rd groove.

look at new spark plug for colour after running 1/3 thottle

if clean or carbon

i susspect you have spark curve issues (timing) if changed the orginale cam shafts profiles

97 srad no power under 4000 rpm in, in first gear acceleration

If you have installed the Dynojet kit's carburetor needles take them off and use the stock ones.
Dynojet's needles are for track use only and the don't work properly under 4000rpm.

How do u set the carb on a 86 mazda sl auto

the flat spot and hard starting is caused from a faulty accelrator pump or a blocked discharge jet in the pump circuit i would be putting a kit in the carby to improve mpg

the only adjustments on the carby is idle speed and idle mixture which dont affect cars mpg
