Hi,sounds like you have a blocked main jet in one of the carbs, when the fuel sits in the bowls it will evaporate and leave behind a residue that is quite difficult to remove even with a carb cleaning compound, what i do in this case is remove the carbs, remove all the jets, place all the jets in a saucer or dish and fill with petrol, leave them for a few days, this will soften the residue, then use compressed air or a crc typecan with carb cleaner and force clean them by squirting the fluid through them,do not use(as some people do) a piece of wire to clean through them, this will scratch the inside of the jet and alter the fuel flow charicteristics of the jet and render it all but useless, once you have them all absolutely spotless, reassemble and put the carbs back in,just about put money on it that your problem will dissappear, hope this helps...cheers

My ttr acts like it starting and dies i changed the spark plug just sputters longer before it dies

Hmmmm does the bike idle fine? Or does it bog and miss fire? Either way it could be running rich ( too much gas) or it could have bad gas in it pending if and when you last drained the tank and filled it

My 2005 VTX 1300c will not stay running unless my choke is pulled part of the way out. What could be causing this? Thank you to anyone that can help!!

That is usually the first sign that the low speed idle jets are plugged. If the bike has sat through the winter then I would suspect that the carbs need cleaning and the jets need unplugging. You can try to run some fuel system cleaner thru the gas tank. Sea Foam or Tectron is what I use and SOME TIMES it can clean out the problem. To help after you have the carbs cleaned if you are going to store or not ride the bike more than a couple weeks put in some fuel stabilizer.

My 05 VTX 1300R just sat and was only ran 1 time in almost 2 years w/ Stabil in the gas.It ran fine last time I rode it, fall of 2009. Statred today and acts like it is starving for fuel, will not idle off...

Recheck fuel flow wth float bowl removed allow floats to hang free. And fuel will flow out, remove float needle check for sticking in seating, remove secondary jet and clean with fine wire to remove fuel contamination, also main jet, if all else fails find a used carburettor to replace old one

Hi Jim, and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking.
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Damaged wire or loose/broken connections at battery terminals/cables, especially the "NEGATIVE" cable at both ends, ignition coil, or plug between ignition sensor and module.
7. Intake air leak.
8. Water, dirt, or rust in the fuel system, carburetor and/or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor.

Bike is sputtering when give it gas. sat for 2

Make sure battery is full, not just charged. if the sputter is still there you may need to clean air filter, fuel fillter or carbs may need to have trash removed from inside at the fuel float valve-seat and jet.

Battery access

Battery is under the seat. There is little room for you to add a charger, as such, shy of getting such a charger recommended by your Honda shop designed for such.

It is probably better if you start your bike once each week and let it run. This will keep fresh gas in the carb and your battery charged up during these difficult months of winter.

07 vtx 1300 leaking gas when bike is started

You need to pull the gas tank off and find out where it is leaking. I would say it is probaby something simple like a loose clamp on a fuel line.
