2008 Triumph Sprint ST cuts out for no reason

Hi, Morne and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery must have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
2. Faulty alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Faulty neutral, side stand or clutch lever safety switch.
10. Fuel tank empty
11. Fuel tank contaminated with ethanol sludge.
12. Water or dirt in the fuel system, or clogged filter.
13. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
14. Faulty fuel pump.
15. Faulty pressure regulator.
16. Faulty or clogged fuel injectors.
17. Lean angle switch is faulty or needs adjustment.

Does the positive on the triumph sprint connect to the neg on the battery

Hi, Kjd1948 not that I am aware of and I don't have the year of your bike but wiring diagrams on a 2002 Sprint show 1 black wire coming from the negative terminal and 2 brown wires coming from the positive terminal any other wires added were after the fact and could be color coded wrong but you would be blowing fuses or melting wires or draining the battery if a true positive source wire was hooked up to the negative post on the battery, trace the wire in question and see where it goes. Sorry, you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Triumph despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. Hi, Motoman774 if you suspect a faulty ground cable you can always add another generic cable of the same gauge and ground it to the frame or engine to validate your suspicions also before testing any electrical component in the Starting System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.

2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter have failed or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.

Will a faulty ignition switch stop the battary from charging.alternator,r/r,battary are all fine. Its a 955i triumph sprint st and the year is 1998

A guess. If you are running on "start" you might not be charging. But then, if you are running on "Start" I would suspect the starter would also be running. You didnt say this was the problem.

Is your battery going dead? Your alternator is putting out? Check the rectifier.

I need to know what fluids, how much and what kinds to put in my Triumph Sprint ST 955i

The user Guide and service manual tell you what as well as online searches. I recommend joining a triumph site or sport-touring.net.

I use Mobile 1 full synthetic, purolator pureone filter, andf regular antifreeze.
