Hi, Shawnw662 before testing any electrical component in the Starting System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter have failed or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
14. Check for engine trouble codes.

Why won't my lights work?

Have you checked the wiring to the lights. Sounds like you have a wire that has shorted to ground. Would also explain your battery drain. I'd check the wiring before the ignition switch since it is draining your battery with the switch in the off position.

Bike has new battery and i was riding it,parked bike and came back a couple hours later and it was dead. push started it and it was fine, shut it off a couple times after riding places and it started up....

You should start by checking if its charging.
put a volt meter across the battery, it should read roughly 12v
then start the bike and it should rise to 14v
much more than this can blow bulbs and boil batteries

CBR954RR Starts perfectly every morning, no issue. Go out for a ride, bikes heats up. Stop for gas, or a toilet break, or lunch. Go to start and it acts like a dead battery... get click from starter motor...

Hi, Mt_jpn some bikes get "Sun Stroke" after running fine in the morning then shut off and parked in the sun for a couple of hours on a hot day. You get back on the bike hit the starter button and nothing happens or the engine turns over but will not fire. Then you put the bike in the shade for 20-30 minutes and it fires up no problem.
The primary reason for this phenomenon is faulty wire connections in the Starter and/or Ignition Circuit. You may have a wire connection/component that makes just enough contact when cool to start and run the bike, but when parked and exposed to direct sunlight heat causes expansion and creates an "OPEN" in the circuit not allowing the bike to start. You move the bike into the shade for a few minutes, the temperature goes down allowing the connection to contract and make better contact and suddenly "it's a miracle" the bike starts. I know what you're thinking that Gremlin could be anywhere, and you would be right in that assumption, you can take your bike to a dealer, spend tons of "DRACHMA" only to receive validated nervous emotions the next time you park in the sun, then 1 week later it doesn't start. Start by doing a ground check:
Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary. Check all common grounds for the same suspects.
The secondary reason your bike may get "Sun Stroke" is vapor lock although this is a rare scenario it does happen.

The bike was running fine in the evening. Rode to work parked the bike took the key out. The battery was dead in the morning. Put the 10 amp charger on and the motor started to turn over with the key off!...

your starter button is malfunctioning. maybe some oxidation in the switch. when starter button is pressed in that can cause your other electrical stuff to not work.

2003 Toyota Sequoia won't start.

Have you gotten this problem fixed yet? If not what is the condition of the battery cables( corrosion free)? Also how old is the battery? One dead cell could possibly cause this problem.

Just a couple questions, then I'll see if I can point you in the right direction. Did you purchase from the dealer or individual? What exactly is it doing when you hit the switch?

If I don't get back to you tonight, I will tomorrow morning. It's a beautiful evening here in Missouri The hurricane has pushed some real nice 70 degree weather up here, and it beats the hell out of the 100 degree heat we've been having. So, I'm gonna ride.
