Remove the top of the carburetor and slide pull the spring up compress it hold it inside the slide there is a plate remove it release the spring hold the cable push the carb slide up to the cap the cable end will push out look under the slide you will see the slot the cable end sits in its sloted to remove this position the end to the large side side and remove the slide, spring and cap pay attention to the routing of the cable then remove the cable from the throttle assembly at the handlebar nothing complicated there reverse the process with the new cable

Idle on 81 gs 850

Hi, Ross I like #5 and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables improperly adjusted, pinched or need lubrication.
2. Idle adjusting screw needs to be backed off.
4. Air fuel mixture adjusted too lean start with 2 full turns.
5. Intake system air leak.
6. Fast idle choke ramp is not releasing.
7. Broken throttle return spring.
8. Damaged diaphragm or slide.
9. Faulty MAP, TPS, ATS, O2, sensors or wiring/connector

Is my 81 ts185 a 2 or 4 stroke. Everyone is telling me different things. The bike is older than me. I would assume 2 stroke. But I'm not sure. Please help me.

Deffinately 2 stroke there should be a small oil tank under the seat or one of the side covers. If not mix oil it in fuel tank at 20:1 Regards Jim. Suzuki Technition.

My 81 suzuki gs550 idles really high it wont adjust with the adjustment screw

it sounds like to me you need another carb gasket. It is leaking vacume past the gasket and causing the bike to pull more fuel to accomadate the air so it is running to fast. If that doesnt fix it check out throttle cable to make sure it is adjusted right

81 Suzuki gs650 #2 carb floods gas out after start

The float is stuck open in the leaking carb. Remove the float bowl and clean the carb after removing the pin holding the float in place. While the float is out, shake it to see if gas has gotten inside it. If so, you will need a new float or will need to drain the float then re-solder it to seal it up again. To drain the float chances are you will need to drill a vent hole in it to allow the gas to drain. Just solder the vent closed when done.

1977 Suzuki TS185 throttle sticks

Could be 2 things to look at first.1 the idle adjusting screw has been screwed in to far and is holding the throttle slide open. The other is an air leak between the carby and the motor resulting in the air/fuel mixture being to lean. This would cause the revs of the engine to be to high.Check these 2 things.Hope this helps
