Renew throttle cables making sure there are no sharp bends in them, lubricate the twist-grip & carb linkages

Our 2002 Dodge Durango 4.7 when started goes to full throttle 6000 rpm and has to be immediately shut off.

John, first make sure it is not floor mat or carpet holding gas peddle down causing throttle issue. If all looks good there, would suggest you check throttle cable for being seized, throttle body seized or return spring faulty/broke. You may want to contact a good Tech, have them diagnose and estimate repair. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Gas throttle is sticking rpm is high

Could be the throttle blade is sticking (clean with spray cleaner) or cable itself may be sticking. Unhook cable from throttle to see which.

My 2006 r6 keep sticking at 4000 rpm

Is your throttle coming back down or is it sticking and you have to twist it back yourself? If it sticks check your cables if it doesn't you have other issues like a vacuum leak.

The throttle just started sticking in my 2005 Aveo. It idles around 2000 rpm where it should be much less. Can I fix it or should I take it to a mechanic?

first off check for carbon buildup at throttle plate, it maybe holding throttle open, you can clean this with carb cleaner and a old toothbrush.clean sides of throttle plate good. then check idleing. if necessary check throttle cable.

Idle rises to 6000 rpm when started

check for a massive vacuum leak or a sticking throttle cable or throttle body.

When i start the car, it sounds like someone is pressing the gas pedal and the rpm is going up to 6000

There is a good chance it is the Throttle positioning sensor. Before changing it though I would check to make sure no cables are binding and that the throttle is operating properly. ie not stuck open or sticking, binding anywhere. you also might be able to get information on testing it from a Haynes manual or another type of service manual to give you the voltage values on the sensor.

Throttle sticks at 200 RPM

Sounds like your throttle body may be dirty. Take off the tube to your throttle body. Right there you should be able to see your butterfly. Open the butterfly, is it all brown/black? Needs to be cleaned. Your butterfly is more then likely sticking. Get some carb cleaner and a used toothbrush. Open butterfly and spray all around in there. Let is soak up for a few minutes and then start cleaning it away. When you see it all silverish, it's clean. Give it a try.
