Question about 2000 Yamaha Royal Star Venture

One carb running rich?

I have a 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale 1300. It would pop while idling so I wanted to sync the carbs. In the process I noticed if I remove the rubber cap on the vacuum port on one of the carbs, the idle doesn't change and the popping stops. When I put the cap back on and try the same thing with the other 3 caps (taking off the putting back on) the idle will lower when off and go back to normal with cap on. Any idea what is wrong with the first carb? Is it running rich and not getting enough air?

You probably have a bad spark plug or spark plug cap/wire or both, it probably is not the carb at all. try changing all your plugs and see if it fixes it.

06 v-star 1100 when twisting throttle and then back to idle position it takes a while to idle back down or stays at high rpm

More than likely the carbs are plugged up(makes the no idle, popping from the intake or pipe and sometimes hard starting), and/or a vacuum line(s) Is loose/broken, and the carbs are probably out of sync (makes the high sticking idle/little to no idle). I have many article written about cleaning the carbs and fuel system. Get the carbs and fuel system cleaned out if you are not familiar with the process.

1986 yamaha royale venture...XVZ13DSC running a little rough when idle. Runs fine after up to speed... Backfires on delceleration sometimes... replaced spark plugs, all looked good with consistant tan...

The first thing that I would check is the choke. Is it sticking?? the backfire on decel indicates that it is getting to much fuel.
A new fuel filter is a very good idea but I would look at the old one and see if it is contaminated.
My concern is the fuel tank. If the carbs were done properly they should be fine. If there is a problem it could be rust in the fuel tank that is still polluting the carbs. I have had many bikes that age that require the fuel tank to be removed, cleaned and possibly coated inside.

I would also drain all of the carbs. Each float bowl has a drain screw and can be loosened up slightly to remove the fuel in the carb. Make sure to take a close look at the fuel that comes out to check for water or contamination.

I hope that this helps,

I have a yamaha venture 1986. It runs too rich. My dealer tells me I have to change the diaphragms. Could it be something else ? Thanks THE YEAR IS 1986

Try and see if you air cleaner unit is in need of replacement or a clean .You could try adjusting your fuel adjustment screws but you will need a set off carb balancers ,to do the job properly .

(More) Gas is coming out of the carburetor overflow hose on my 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale. How do I fix this problem?

You have a float sticking! You will have to remove the carb and dismantle it and give it a good cleaning and adjustment and reinstall.

Yamaha runing rich

With the mixture screws out 4 turns, I would bet your piloit jets are too big. Try the next size down and see how it runs at low rpm. You don't want the mixture screws turned out 4 turns on any bike, nor all the way in. 1-3 turns out, closer to 2 is better, is a good general rule for setting them on most carbed bikes. If you have the right jets in the carbs, a quarter to half a turn on the screws makes a noticable difference, if you can crank them around all over and not change the way it runs much, the jets are wrong.
