Question about 2001 Harley Davidson FXDL Dyna Low Rider

1 Answer

I am in the process of changing out my handle bars on my 07 Dyna Low Rider. I removed the clutch cover on the right side (battery side) of the bike to remove the clutch cable. My first question is; When I replace the gasket do I need to put a light coat of transmission fluid on it or, do I replace it dry? My second question is; how many ft lbs of torque do I need to apply to the allen screws for a proper seal? I do not have a manual so I can't reference one for the specs.

Put the gasket on dry and torque the 1/4" bolts to 7-9 foot pounds. Transmission takes 20-24 ounces of Syn3 20W50 oil or H-D semi-synthetic trans lub.

Good Luck.

Where is the transmission fill plug for a 2003 heritage softail

Look on the right side of the bike for a chrome cover on the end of the transmission. If you can't find it, simply follow the clutch cable and it runs right into the cover. There is a plug in this cover that requires an Allen wrench or hex key to remove. Stand the bike up straight and remove the plug. The oil level should be between the two lines on the dip stick. The transmission holds 20-24 ounces of oil.

How to change the starter on a 1997 dyna low rider

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the primary case. Remove the primary cover and take the bolt out of the jackshaft and remove it. There is a coupling between the starter motor and the jackshaft. It should not come out with the jackshaft but when you take the starter out, it will come out with it. Remember, the counterbored end goes towards the jackshaft. Put the coupling on the starter before installing it on the bike. On the right side of the bike, you'll probably have to remove some or all of the exhaust system. Take anything else off that may be in your way. Take the battery cable and the single wire that goes to the solenoid off of the starter and remove the two large socket head bolts that holds the starter on.

Good Luck

How do i take out battery or get to it to jump start it

On most Dyna models, you must first remove the seat. Remove the single bolt at the rear of the seat going into the fender, lift the rear of the seat, and pull to the rear. If you have a sissy bar on the bike, you may have to remove it to get the seat off.

On the right hand side of the bike where the battery is, just to the rear of the battery are two bolts. Loosen these bolts. Now, look behind the battery from the top of the frame where the seat was. You should see a bolt that is a "jack bolt". By turning the bolt counterclockwise, you lower the battery allowing you to remove the battery top cover and the wrap around cover.

Disconnect the negative side of the battery first when removing a battery. Reconnect the negative side of the battery last when installing a battery.

I need to know where and how do i remove the battery from my 2005 dyna low rider

The battery is under the seat on the right side of the bike. You must first remove the seat by removing the screw on the top of the rear fender that holds the seat in place...you can't miss the screw, it's a big chrome philips head screw. Once the screw is removed, lift the seat up slightly and gently pull towards the rear of the bike; this will release the front of the seat from it's retaining tab. Now that the seat is off, look at the right side of the bike, the chrome box there is the battery compartment. I believe the bolts connecting the battery are 10mm...you can undo them with a wrench and pull the battery out.

Removing the battery for a 2004 Dyna Low Rider

Yes, both bolts are to the left of the battery as you face the bike. One removes out towards you (first), the other loosens downward (second). As you loosen the bolt the battery tray will move down. You do not need to remove the second bolt. Only loosen it until the chrome battery cover clears the frame. Once clear, remove the top and side covers. Good luck

How do you remove battery from dyna low rider 2002?

I have an early model and I think they're still the same in that area. There are two bolts on the right side of the battery support. Loosen these two bolts and the battery will drop down a bit allowing you to remove the battery top cover and front cover.
