Thanks for that, ill have a look at it. Forgot to mention that the brake light works on the back brake but you really need to "push it" before the brake light comes on. Would it still be the same problem?

Hi.

You need to check the wires connected to the front brake switch, located behind the lever. If that does not fix the problem replace the front stop switch that cost about $15. The part will be similar to the following:

    Hi.

It is the same thing, but it is caused by different switches. This bike has about ten year on its back. If the wires are OK, the switches may have been damaged by rain and dampness. Oxide makes the switch less effective or faulty, and you may need to replace both of them.

To find out if the problem is the switch you can jump the contacts. If the light stays on, then the switch is bad. About the switch that is hard to push, ensure that this does not depend on the lever position. I think that the problem can be an oxidized switch.

The two switch are rather inexpensive, if the rear brake switch is malfunctioning, better replacing both.

Fireblade 954 Brake Light

Hi Gra, a brake light staying on is usually caused by the front brake light switch, which is mechanical, not disengaging. On early models moving the throttle control housing closer to the front brake master cylinder is the main fix. On late models, the switch gets tweaked and needs to be realigned. A brake light that does not come on when the brake lever is applied can be caused by a faulty switch or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. The rear brake light switch is hydraulic and it is extremely rare to malfunction in a closed circuit condition causing the brake light to stay on. Usually rear brake light switch issues are caused by no brake pedal free play or a sticky rear master cylinder piston. A brake light that does not come on when the rear brake pedal is depressed can be caused by a faulty switch, air in the brake line, or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. 99 chevy tahoe back lights not workin top brake light works no tail lights brake lights or blinkers everything works in the front checked fuses replaced bulbs and stop light switch still nothing

Look where the wiring harness comes through the rear passenger compartment. Theres usually a junction that splits off then goes to the back tail lights, I beleive there is also a ground wire somewhere in the same vicinity. Sounds like theres a short in the harness at that junction or the ground is maybe loose or rusted and not making contact.

Replaced front brakes ABS light comes on and

Hi:
The ABS light on means an ABS malfunction. You should be able to have a auto parts store scan your car and find out what code is tripped, for free, but my guess is that one of your front wheel speed sensors is out of whack, or dirty or something.
When the light is on, your normal brakes work fine, but you have no ABS, so your car will take longer to stop in emergency situations.

You can adjust the switch by putting your thumbs on either side of the switch plunger and pushing toward the brake lever. The switch shaft will ratchet into the new position which is will then be depressed by the brake lever when it is the brake is not being depressed.
