There are safety switches on the clutch and sidestand, so you cant ride off with the stand down, one of those may be faulty, unplugged or have a wire broken

I till over my bike in some water. It did get some water in the engine what do?

DO not turn the engine over. Drain and replace all fluids, including the fuel. Replace air filter(s). Open almost everything and drain water. You can use air to help. Unplug all multi-plugs and completely dry with blown air.
Pull plugs and turn engine over. This will expel excess fluid. Put plugs back in. Start the unit. Run until quite warm, but do not ride it hard. Work out any misfiring.
Drain and replace all fluids, while still warm. Then run the unit again for longer than 20 minutes after fully warm.
Make note not to ride in water again.

I have a 1988 Yamaha virago 750 my problem is that the front cylinder does not fire up after a while not always but often if you start bike it runs fine for 10 minutes or so then looses power because the...

Next time you get it warmed up, check the compression on the front cylinder when it quits. Be careful of course since it will be hot. It is possible that you are losing compression when everything heats up and expands, but it comes back when the bike cools.

Quits running after it starts to warm up under 1 mile

Try your ignition coil. That year model chevy has a dry running coil and it does not go out all at once. It will spark and run while cool but just as soon as the everything starts to heat up the resistance in the coil begins to build and it quits firing. After letting the vehicle set a little while and cool off it will fire off and run just fine untill it starts to heat up again.

Bike will start but quits as soonas I put it in gear

Starts and quits? No assuning - Gas? Spark?, Air?Choke Open? Will it eun with partial choke? Fuel filter restriction causes slow loss of power or sensation of running out of fuel. Electrical is go or no go, and quits suddenly like the key was turned off.. So I don't think its electrical. No assuming. double ck all and bypas fuel filter for testing.. Good luck. Double ck fuel valve.

Clutch slipping while cold, when warm/hot, it operates great.

I have a 2000 Vulcan Nomad FI & had a very similar problem. In fact, it's a very common problem with these bikes. I fixed it by replacing the Clutch Spring. (As Described here:

It cost me $40 and 3 hours of time with an impact wrench.

99 vstar 1100 quits when put in gear

couple of things to look for.

1. when you're putting it in gear, is the kick stand up or down. if down, most modern day bikes have a kick stand safety switch which will not allow you to put the bike in gear with the side stand down. this little relay may have failed. its usually located near the kick stand.

2. clutch disks may be stuck together. it happens on my old bikes from sitting too long (over a winter). when i pop it into first gear after i start it w/ clutch lever pulled, it will buck forward and die. i have to repeat a few times to get them unstuck.

good luck

My vn88 1500. when at colder temps, barely moves then when warmer

i believe you have a fuel starvation problem or either the plugs are fouling out when cool then at warmer temps the oil is burning off. pull your plugs and check for corrosion
