Have you trace all wiring condition from end-to-end and everything has been properly grounded?
Get a similar diameter electrical wire, connect one end to bulb and the other to your battery, if it works then try to connect it from battery to switches and from switches to bulb, if substituting old wires works then leave it connected as it is, as one of your wires had its time. No need for wiring diag. If you want try to use Google search engine to search around. Good enough?

Everything except the brake lights work on my 2001 R1 Yamaha

Hi, Candace good for you any type of wiring harness installation is no small quickie and fixing the brake light is easy before diagnosing any brake light issue always check the bulb and fuse first for integrity a brake light staying on is usually caused by the front brake light switch, which is mechanical, not disengaging. On early models moving the throttle control housing closer to the front brake master cylinder is the main fix. On late models, the switch gets tweaked and needs to be realigned. A brake light that does not come on when the brake lever is applied can be caused by a faulty switch or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. The rear brake light switch is hydraulic and it is extremely rare to malfunction in a closed circuit condition causing the brake light to stay on. Usually, rear brake light switch issues are caused by no brake pedal free play or a sticky rear master cylinder piston. A brake light that does not come on when the rear brake pedal is depressed can be caused by a faulty switch, air contamination in the brake line, or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. How do I locate the valves?

Hmmm For the Yamaha yfm225s a parts list and exploded views

The valves are in the top of the engine inside the Cylinder Head.

Valves here .http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/ATV/1986/MOTO-4+-+YFM225S/VALVE/parts.html

The valves fit inside the Cylinder head shown here.http://images.cmsnl.com/img/partslists/yamaha-yfm225s-1986-cylinder-head_bigyau0288a-5_c208.gif

The valves move up and down indside the valve guide which is number 5 on the above diagram.

Hi my Yamaha r1 big bang head light high beam dont work checked fuses under seat nothing wrong there so were must i look please help

Hi, Anonymous if your headlight is not working, keeps burning out, blinking, or is dim the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chaffed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/lo beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
9. Weak charging alternator/generator.
10. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

1986 dodge 3/4 four wheel no brake lights have turn signals running lights power to the switch and new bulbs

Turn signal and brake lights operate from a different switch. The brake light switch is under the dash behind the brake pedal. Look under the dash and follow the brake pedal up until you see a switch which the pedal operates. Normally a white plastic switch with two wires. Disconnect the two wires and touch them together. If brake lights come on replace the switch. If not use a 12 volt test light to see if there is current to one of the wires. If not, check for a blown fuse. This should solve your problem. If not, contact me for further information,
