Did you fiddle with any wiring before as it looks like the wire have be connected the wrong way, ground becomes part of power and power becomes ground.

Hi, Yexer #2 or #5 and the usual suspects are:
1. Neutral light bulb burnt out.
2. Faulty neutral switch.
3. A loose bulb in the socket.
4. Faulty wiring from the neutral switch to the light.
5. If the neutral light stays on while the bike is in gear the wire from the light to the neutral switch is grounded.
The ignition circuit cut-off system comprising of the side stand switch, clutch switch and neutral switch has the following functions:
a. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is up, but the clutch lever is not pulled.
b. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the clutch lever is pulled, but the side stand is still down.
c. It cuts the running engine when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is moved down.
Periodically check the operation of the ignition circuit cut-off system according to the following tests.
With the engine turned off:
1. Move the side stand down.
2. Make sure that the engine stop switch is set to "RUN"
3. Turn the key to "ON".
4. Shift the transmission into the neutral position.
5. Push the start switch if the engine does not start the neutral switch may be faulty.
With the engine still running:
6. Move the side stand up.
7. Keep the clutch lever pulled.

Triumph trident 93 model side stand works as it should but warning stays on with stand up john


Hi, John either the switch is faulty or the circuit is grounded to the light that being said the ignition circuit cut-off system comprising of the side stand switch, clutch switch and neutral switch has the following functions:
a. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is up, but the clutch lever is not pulled.
b. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the clutch lever is pulled, but the side stand is still down.

My honda valkyrie stalls when shifting from neutral to first gear wile still holding down the clutch

I have a 2001 vz marauder stalling when it goes in to gear, where or what is the side stand micro switch


The side stand switch is a safety device that will stop the rider from riding off with the side stand still down by turning off the ignition power.

Got 2001 gsxr 600! bike starts in (N) but stalls out when put in gear?????


Check you side stand safety switch . Suzuki uses a system that kills the motor if you put it in gear with the side stand down or put the side stand down while it is in gear and it is running.

Whont stay started when put in gear


Try and get the bike on a center stand or have a friend hold it for you. Looking underneath, you will see where the stand (in the down position) is pressing a small cylinder type micro switch up to tell the electrics the stand is down. You will also see all the grease from the chain sitting on it (cause of your problem!). Retract the stand so the switch pops out, clean all the muck of it and whack some graphite based lubricant on it...Problem fixed! The bike wont think the stand is down all the time....

Is my choke on my 97 suzuki vz800. Supposed to be


You should be able to adjust the choke to where it will stay in without holding it by turning the rubber piece behind the choke clockwise towards you until the choke stays out on its own. You can adjust this so the choke automatically adjust as the bike warms.

When i put it in first gear ease off clutch it goes dead


Sounds like the bike "thinks" the side stand is still down. There is a switch on the side stand to tell the ignition if it is up or down. The intent is to prevent a person from riding off with the stand down and crashing. Check first to see if it is sticking. Observe the operation of the switch as you raise and lower the side stand. Often, a shot of lubricant can resolve this issue. If the switch is moving in and out, then disconnect it from the wiring harness and put an ohmmeter across the two leads and check for continuity and no continuity as the side stand switch is down and then up. If the plunger for the switch is moving in and out with the side stand, and you do not get a change of continuity with the side stand up or down, it will need to be replaced.
