Question about 2000 Triumph Trophy 1200

1 Answer

Thinking of buying an old trophy with a very low mileage. Not been started for ever. Started on two cylinders. Checked plugs which seem OK. Any hints on where to start.

If it hasnt been started in a long time chances are that the main jets are blocked with dried fuel residue or if its an injecter model the injecters are blocked with the sam residue

2 cylinders not running

i would actually replace the caps and leads on side not working, a bad connection may still spark when not under pressure, then test coil before i think about cdi

99 mpv missfires, splutters.wont idle & has no power. when MAF is disconnected runs a lot better. I replaced the Maf but still does the same. The problem started suddenly, drove to work ok but when i

replace fuel filter, clean fuel injectors.could have bad fuel, do a code scan before buying new parts.faulty egr valve or faulty engine coolant temperature sensor cause engine run poorly.replace spark plugs and wires because if spark plug wires is bad or spark plug and ignition coil is bad that will cause rough idling misfiring and stalling you have dead cylinder not firing properly..

I am thinking the chain jumped on both cylinders of my engine. compression is poor and back fire is occurring. will not start. problem started when i wanted to see how fast the bike could go on 81...:( ...

Check compressions, sounds like you have bent a valve(s).
If compression is same on all cylinders, may be electrics issue.
If compressions are low on 1 or all cylinders then vlave timing needs checking.

Simply remove tank / spark plugs / viewing screw for flywheel timing and rotate crank till TDC marks line up. Insert thin long screw driver into the no1 plug hole and turn engine really slowly with wrench.
The screw driver should have been at TDC and started to go down / up depending on which way you turned crank. If screw driver is at the TDC, valve timing is OK.

Trophy 1200 overheating low mileage!

hey, just finished huge ride across europe on one. Look at radiator and water pump, check oil levels and type of oil used. sounds like a blockage in water pump and or, radiator or hoses. Check electrical fan is running after bike stops? If fan is not working the bike will over heat as it requires fan to draw air trough the radiator constantly. Terry Tourer Australia

It starts ok but when im riding it seems like it some times is running on two cylinders instead of the three i have a 2003 trophy 900

Check for water in the spark plug well.
Probably worth pulling plugs and checking/replacing them.

93 chev silverodo missing on 2 cylinders

This could be a few things. The first thing i would check is the firing order as 2 crossed leads will cause this . If this checks out ok try a compression test. A blown head gasket between 2 cylinders will also cause this. Hope ive helped

2004 Rodeo Misfire on Cylinder 4

cylinder 4 is on the drivers side it is middle plug goes 2,4,6. it is possible for plug to go bad at mileage. look on the side of plug see if you can see a black mark on side this will be evidence of fire going down side of porcelain also look on plug wire for any trace of arcing. it is most likely a bad plug or wire on cyl 4
