Two stroke motors with wet clutches are notorious for sticking when left for a period. Older oiler will leave a slight residue on ends of friction plates. If it is a regular thing after every stop, you will need to rinse clutch with a solvent. You don't need to dismantle if you are patient and carefull when applying solvent as it may discolour alloy cases and paintwork. Use a premium grade MOTORCYCLE GEAR OIL only and your problem will be solved if your clutch is A1 mechanically.

Tri z started and put in gear and in jumped and stalled. I started againg with clutch handle pullled in and started and it jumped and i didnt let it stall drove it around and shifted gears but was very...

It sounds to me like a part is missing in the clutch assembly. Bear in mind that the first plate installed in the clutch assembly is a cork friction plate, then metal, cork, metal, ect.. You should end up with a cork friction plate. There should be 6 metal plates and 7 cork friction plates. The diagram below is a tri-z 250. Please rate my answer. Thanks! tombones49_199.gif

When i engage the clutch and select any gear the bike will leap forward and stall. In other words I cannot pull the clutch in and start the bike.

If the bike hasn't been ridden for a while, select top gear, (engine off) and with the clutch pulled in rock the bike back and forth. That may free the clutch.

97 kx250 just replaced clutch hub, and basket. we can't put oil in yet beacuse we misplaced the plug, but when we got it all together and pulled the clutch in and pit it in gear it still grabbed.

if you tried the clutch dry it will grab. if you tried it with the oil in it and it grabbed, then adjust the cable. about 3 mil gap on the lever.

have you got an engine cut out on your side stand?
its a safty idear to stop you pulling away with the side stand still down! (only an idiot would do that???)
(mind you, i did it, and payed the price for it as well?)
have a look under your bike side stand, if you have one pull off both wirers and short them together if this works,, fix the switch!!!!

Bought a used 88 cr250 and like and idiot i didnt ride it first to make sure the tranny shifted properly...well, it didnt. when i pull in on the clutch to drop the bike in gear with the motor running it...

sounds like you need a clutch. Yes the friction plates should move a bit when you pull your clutch lever in that is how the clutch works what oil are you running in you tranny and have you tried adjusting the clutch cable? When you had your clutch apart what did the friction plates look like was there much meat left on them?

My dirtbike clutch doesnt work right

Make sure that the cable is still working and hasn't broken from freezing up since it was parked. Had the clutch been causing any problems in the past? This clutch is not adjustable at the base where it mounts to the engine. Adjust the cable if needed from the handle. If this doesn't help, then it sounds like an internal problem. This would require taking off the right side of the motor. Just get a new gasket, and a clutch kit. The basket might be able to be saved with emory cloth. You can get a clutch kit at
