The most common thing to go wrong on a bike that has been left sitting is the emulsion tubes in the carbs to block up. Remove the carbs, remove the float bowls from the carbs, remove the main jet. The needle that is on the slide ( in the body of the carb) goes into a tube that is on top of the main jet. Once the main jet is out, the emulsion jets can be removed, these are brass tubes with tiny holes up their length ( the tiny holes will be blocked ). Clean everything and put your carbs back together. You should be riding in no time. Make sure your air filter is very clean ( or new ) as this will also affect your performance. Happy trails

You need to spray some carb cleaner into the airbox as it idles. Also get the kind of carb cleaner that you put into the tank. If you have access to industrial chemicals, Heptane works wonders. And get those carbs syncronized, the pinging is because four cylinders are trying to accelerate at different rates. Good luck

My abs pump went out on my 2009 concours. The part number is 16082-0023. I found a pump that looks just like it but it's part number 16082-0707.. This pump is from a 13-14 Kawasaki zx14R.

Hi, Eddie after careful deliberation 4 out 5 Kawasaki Gods give this one a thumbs down, there is a reason there are 2 different part numbers but just to be on the safe side you should give your local dealer's parts/service department a call to confirm. Good luck and have a nice day.

While riding at night my bike died and could not be started without battery jump. Where do ifind the magneto and regulator to test? and wht output should i be expecting?

its an alternator not magneto, there should be 3 wires white or yellow, going to the reg\rectifier, multi meter across any pair(unplugged) should show 50-80 volts at 2000rpm non of these should short to earth, multi meter across battery should show up to 14v at 2-3000rpm.with everything plugged back in
if alternator checks out, and no voltage more than 12 at battery , replace regulator,,

all assuming the battery wasn't fried when it ran out of acid

my guess is new stator\alternator required

Where is the battery located on a 2005 kawasaki concours 1000? and how would i go about charging the battery? or does it have to be taken to the shop? bike has been sitting in the garage for over 6 months,...

I don't know 100% for sure where the battery is but typically on Japanese bikes they're under the seat. You can charge it yourself using a motorcycle battery charger. Sears also sells a charger that's good for cars and motorcycles and will condition a battery that's sulfated. Changing the gas in the tank would be a good thing to do to help prevent the possibilities of fuel related problems rearing up when you show the bike. Other than that, a good going over before you put it on the market is a good idea.
