Gs1100 with an oil leak from the leftside

Hi i have a gs1100 with a leak from the leftside of the engine. can't seem to find it , replaced the 2 midlle front headnut O rings , replaced the camchain tensioner , replaced the valve cover gasket and still leaking.
funny thing is i can't see it starting , it is dry for an hour and then suddenly in the last 5 minutes of driving the left side of the engine and my pants are wet with oil.
a few hundred miles back i changed the headgasket because of an oilleak on the right side , it was fine after that , retorqued the headbolts and still fine for a couple of hundred miles and then suddenly this starts but the edge around the headgasket is dry.
rebuild hundreds of engines but this one has me stumped , is there a trick with these engines?
thanks in advance
jim

The pump is mechanical and pumps to the valves and other bearings that needs it. The oil level sight glass is only for that, you won't see it surging around like a washing machine. You have probably moved a wire when installing the new lights and that is causing the oil light to come on. If they are LED replacements, they can cause a whole lot of problems due to their electronic circuitry that is in the base cap of every bulb..

Hi, I've got a 2000 Plymouth Voyager SE 3.3L V6 with 115,000 miles that recently had the coolant in the reservoir boiling-at which point the engine shut off. This was after about an hour of running. I...

The stop leak most like caused the thermostat to stick closed and caused the over heating which may have blown a head or intake gasket. Have the oil analyzed to see if there is coolant present and if there is you will need to determine which gasket needs replaced. On newer vehicles it's no small job to replace a head or intake gasket os special tools are required.

I HAVE AN OIL LEAK FROM MY PUNTO, THE OIL SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM AROUND THE OIL FILTER, IT IS RUNNING OUT, IS IT LIKELY TO BE THE SUMP OR ARE THERE PROBLEMS WITH THE FILTER OR FILTER HOUSING

Hi,
To make sure that oil leaks are coming from the oil filter, clean the side of your engine, remove all the oil sludge and sump. Then run your engine for an hour, check the oil around the oil filter and the whole side of the engine.
If the oil was found around the filter, it means you have to replace the filter immediately. The oil seal on the oil filter is already done!
Hope that helps you!
Thanks for using Fixya!

Water leak drips on leftside but is not from water pump. seems to come from back side and runs tword the front, shows wet down low and in back close to firewall.

There is a metal pipe on the back head that has coolant in it going to the heater core. Also there are also small rubber hoses (2) on the driver side toward the rear of the engine. Run your hand under the above listed items to see if you can feel coolant. If the above don't show any leak then it could be a head gasket leaking to the outside of the engine. Good Luck

2003 Taurus 24V DOHC, have engine oil covering oil pan. I thought is was the oil pan gasket, mechanic did not seem to think so. Put dye in and trying to find the leak source. Is there a common leak problem...

Oil leak can be attributed to several factors.
1. Gasket failure.
2. Uncontrolled Crank case pressure Failure.

RECOMENDATION:
Tighten both the valve cover and oil pan bolts.
Replace the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve and vacuum line.,

INFO: PCV
This is a valve causes a negative vacuum on the engine while its running, As to say if it had a leak in a valve cover it should not be leaking while its running, only when the engine it turned off.

Hope this tip guides you in the correct direction to solve this problem.

75 chevy Nova leaking oil and radiator fluid

Hi,
Without seeing first hand, it's difficult to nail down the problem for a solution... but based on your description I would make it a first and foremost priority to resolve the oil leak. As you know, oil reduces friction in an engine. It is vital for the life of it. No oil = friction, overheating, and worse, damage to the engine.
The clattering could be because you are losing oil enough that there isn't sufficient lubrication for the engine, especially when reving up the rpms.
Fix this... Hope this helps... Good luck!
